Thanks for the update A&C.

Hope we don't offload Naughton if that is indeed who it refers to.
Who else could it possibly be?

Hope we do, he got stuffed by wingers whenever I watched him play for Norwich, Smith is a better prospect. Mind you I was wrong about Walker!

I'm not too fussed about not signing Oscar. I think Moutinho is higher up on the list than him. AVB knows him a lot better and he's already more experienced. Less of a risk for the price.

He's also much more suited to the Modric role than Oscar (although that is based on reading about Oscar rather than seeing him) and I assume that is what we are looking for.

Pretty sure he was highly regarded by Norwich fans who watched him for the whole season, and with his versatility as either a left or right back he'd be very valuable to us. Smith may be promising but he's not much younger than Naughton and has a lot less experience at the highest level.

My neighbour is a Norwich STH, he (and a lot of others) thought Naughton was the dogs. They would have loved him on a permanent deal.

Yep! 4-2-3-1

Walker---Vert----Kab----Bale
---------Sandro--Parker
----Sig------Oscar------VDV
------------ADE

I know i've left out BAE. But i'd like to see Bale and Walker play as full backs pushed high up the field with Sandro, Parker, Kab and Vert sweeping up behind. Which gives you Walker, Bale, Sig, Oscar, VDV and Ade all attacking freely.

Dude check out the AVB formation thread, or my sig, for info on what formation AVB prefers and what formation we'll likely be playing next season.

That's what I thought.

With Charlie having gone and Rose likely to be let go (and not really up to standard IMO), if we let Naughton go then we need cover at both left and right fullback so it would seem a strange decision to me.

As for Smith, the highest level he's played at is in the Championship and even that was for only 3 games (according to Wikipedia). I'm not sure he's ready to suddenly cover both sides of our defence.

In relation to Moutinho, I `ve only really seen him at this years Euro`s where he looked a very, very good player both on the offensive and defensive end (excuse the Americanisms). I`ve never seen or heard of Oscar until his name was mentioned on here so can`t really comment on him either.

Vertonghen could cover at LB, although thats a bit like robbing peter to pay paul, hopefully the rumours on the Fryers kid are true, maybe he could be the LB cover as I`m not convinced at all by Danny Rose.

POTL R.E Lloris;

Can confirm now in discussions regarding transfer, AVB believes he will be the #1 for years to come, buys into Daniel's philosophy of buying for now and the future as the player is only 25, and obviously Brad can't go on forever and Carlo as the #2 obviously is nearing the end of his career. Not much more to add at this stage.

Agree, with BAE probably away at the ACN.

Smith is a better prospect? Come on!

In fairness, I don't get a chance to follow our junior players too much so rely in Windy to keep me up to date as, IMO, his knowledge of such matters is exceptional. Anyway he seems to believe that Smith has much more potential than Naughton and that we should cash in now as Naughton is at the age where he is gonna want regular first team games.

Good news from the Pottle if he means we're in discussions with Lloris.

Long way to go through before we conclude a deal with Lyon if there is still a 5million Euro hole between the two valuations.

Hasn't there been talk of a 13.5m offer having gone in? If that's in pounds, that's pretty much squarely in between the two clubs' valuations so could be sorted.

Smith would not take up a squad position due to age whereas Kyle Naughton would. I have not seen either play enough to make any further worthwhile contribution to this discussion.
I thank you

Who know's - there seems to be speculation of between 12million and 15million valuations/bids compared to that of Lyon's of reportedly 20million.

Hopefully there will be a positive outcome as it appears Lloris is committed to a move away and that Lyon are looking for a swift conclusion as well.

If we get Lloris before we head to USA i'll be ecstatic!
