Thank god we didnt spunk all this cash when Harry was in charge. We'd be sitting with a teams of pensioners right now.

Good work so far DL, I knew I was right in trusting you

Carvalho makes sense as a seen it all pro and a break glass in case of emergency back up. Good to see progress being made with Moutinho and Lloris.

If all this info is true it seems that dear leader is certainly backing AVB. I for one am really looking forward to seeing what happens because for the first time in a while it's really difficult to predict what we're going to do and how we're going to do it. We seem to, at least on the surface, be showing real drive and ambition. The two new players, the renewals for Caulker and Bale (and Walker not long before), and seemingly doing all we can to keep last seasons best forward by far, exciting times ahead methinks.

Dressing room capo, and coach if he wants it in a sesaon or two?

Fwiw AVB is less than a year older than Carvalho.

I'm distinctly underwhelmed with the idea of Freund as our new Number 2. As a player he was like Sherwood, but worse, and the "football genius" gag was always pure irony from the club of Hoddle and Ardiles.

Maybe the real "football genius" coach is this Luis Martins character...

As has been said many times before, how good a man was as a player has no bearing whatsoever on his ability as a coach.

I'm actually mostly excited about possibly getting Lloris for some reason, even though I know nothing about him :)

Not a direct attack at you Yanno as your summation wasn't quite as discriminating but I wish people would stop with the "shit player, shit coach" accusations, I'm sure someone could come up with more examples than me where previously a manager didn't play at the highest level but is now coaching at the highest level.

Also with Freund, I don't think the Germans would put anyone in charge of coaching their kids

Cheers Scutch. There's some old timers who still value POTL's input. Nice to know Moutinho is really being discussed. Let's hope he is in London tomorrow as rumoured. (y)

I have no idea if true, but by all accounts Freund has done a good job working with German youth/U20 teams I think. He knows our club (and believe he's pretty fond of his time here). I remember reading that he invested in a property port folio in London as well.

And lets be honest, could he be any less inspiring than Kevin fucking Bond.

Does anyone remember the days when we use to post ITK in a different colour? Well can I suggest that we ask those of you that know akqayid quite well to add a "PWP" to his info to let us know when his ITK is Pissed When Posted (y)

Can someone explain the Carvaleo thing to me as I don't really get it. Does he come in as immediate back up to JV and Kaboul. If so he will get in the way of Caulkers progress. Or will he will 4th or even 5th choice centre half? Would he really come for that? How often did he play past season?

I don't give a stuff about the sources, I'm just happy that validated ITKs are posting such encouraging stuff about Moutinho. I didn't think this one would come off tbh, but I'm starting to get a wee bit excited about it now.

He's going to be the first name on my FF teamsheet next season if this happens!

*does excited little dance*

 :) (y)

Caution, caution, caution....His goal record is about as good as Modric's if I remember correctly....

How many great players of the last 20 years have been great coaches / managers?

Most of them have been fucking disasters, whereas the likes of Wenger, Ferguson, Mourinho hardly had distinguished playing careers

Maybe it's because he's a 6ft 5" good looking French Geezer who's 25 years old?

I'm pretty darn excited, will be over the moon if we get Moutinho and Lloris in (although my pledges will be going through the roof, and I just bought a £600 Hugo Boss suit today :) )

Probably emergency cover with view to coaching role. He won't play instead of Caulker I wouldn't have thought.

I mean if it all comes off a window of Lloris, Vertonghen, Adebayor, Sigurdsson, Mountino would be absolutely sensational, even if Modric goes. Plus hinting from JJ that at least one more striker is likely and links to two young hot defensive prospects.

Are you sure this is Spurs?!

On the strikers front, currently we have one senior out and out CF on our books, Defoe, but rumours suggest he may be off to Reading. Other ITK say Adebayor is only days away from being announced, but that would still only give us two strikers (one if Defoe goes). So I would expect at least one more forward, maybe two...

Lloris, Vertonghen, Sigurdsson, Moutinho and Adebayor.... All look very very likely, so good summer really. But since I'm anticipating at least one more striker, exciting times ahead.
