bassong , bentley, jenas , gio , naughton / rose (to lesser extent) gomes, cudicini , defoe. these are names i can just think of off top of my head and to be honest they would not even be in my first 16 on any given match day, even against lesser teams. they serve no purpose for the quality we need or where we need to be or go. i would argue if even one of those names mentioned were in a team we wud very rarely win or struggle to win a match. thats not been harsh , its just the truth. no one feels overly confident about any of those players.

now surely to god if we sold those players and the wages it would save ,

I agree to a certain extent. However, in order for us to sell them we not only need a buyer, but a buyer who will offer them wages for which they will leave.

Whether we should have brought some of them in the first place is a different matter but I can certainly see the difficulty in selling them.

So someone says we've got some secret targets. I can't understand how they can be kept secret as agents and selling clubs will blow the news trying to create bidding wars.

You'd think so. Unless the player really wants to come and the buying club wants to sell, and we've made a deal conditional on no word of it getting out.

(Runs out of straws to clutch.)

SPICE BOYS!! Guess we should have trusted Ole Gibbsy after all!! :D

from Nish on COYS:

At the bar: Bale, JJ, Bentley, tommy, jake and a few others here.

Lads it was pretty interesting. Unfortunately
I'm nursing a mental hangover and came in an hour late for work. Pics and deets to follow.

Quick summary - the english lads were out, so were a couple of page 3 girls apparently, the european players stayed away but the night ended with a number of happy drunk spurs players going upstairs to after party with the girls and me and my mates going home like losers with nothing but a bit of largely irrelevant itk and a few happy snaps with idols who are ultimately all a bit normal (albeit loaded)

We're told Bale is tee total. Hope he was being a good boy, even if he is a beast.

"So trying to state some Facts re Ade Deal... He wants City to cover his drop in wages. NOT for himself but his charity. Somewhere in the region of £50k a week seems to be the issue and he wants city to donate that weekly to his charity. Not him. He's taking a massive drop to agree to join. He wants to join. We want him to join. It's city and the charity stuff supposedly stalling it. But chill. We'll have him"

-Atleast somewhat noble reason if this is whats holding it up i guesso_O

A strange definition of Noble. Getting someone else to make your charity donations for you.

So he's taking a drop in wages and wants Citeh to pay the amount to his charity that he has hitherto been paying from his wages. Which he henceforth obviously won't have to pay from his wages.

In which case, is he taking a pay cut, or will his disposable income be at the same level as it has been with his Citeh contract assuming that somebody else makes the charitable donation for him?

EDIT. Bollocks! Beaten to it by Shepspurs - and more succinctly too.

I'm really sorry, but despite the best intentions I think this is all spurious (an intentional pun!) nonsense. I really don't bash ITK, but really. I do however believe we will sign him, despite and not because of this.

Strange regarding the ade situation.

To be honest I really can't see us signing anyone now until modric goes. I would imagine they are waiting to see what money they have to play with.

Charity = doing good in Togo by building schools, orphanages and hospitals.

Definitely. Though we all moan about our relevant countries at times.. we're very fortunate to be born, and live in one of the richest countries in the world. Having the kind of money Adebayor has, and visiting friends and family in Togo must rattle his heart. No wonder he's doing something for his country. He's rich by UK standards...imagine how rich he is by Togo standards. If I was in Adebayor's shoes, I wouldn't be able to look a fellow, struggling countryman in the eye if I wasn't doing something with my extreme wealth to help out. Fairplay to him. I hope it doesn't (and don't think it will) break the deal, but I have a world of respect for someone who is unselfish and passionate enough about their country and it's future...to do what he does.

I was so tempted to post "fuck the Togolese orphanages, I wants me a new striker", but then I realised that half the site seems to have lost its 'sarcasm' detector.

I blame the weather. And Jenas.
