SPICE BOYS!! Guess we should have trusted Ole Gibbsy after all!! :D

from Nish on COYS:

At the bar: Bale, JJ, Bentley, tommy, jake and a few others here.

Lads it was pretty interesting. Unfortunately
I'm nursing a mental hangover and came in an hour late for work. Pics and deets to follow.

Quick summary - the english lads were out, so were a couple of page 3 girls apparently, the european players stayed away but the night ended with a number of happy drunk spurs players going upstairs to after party with the girls and me and my mates going home like losers with nothing but a bit of largely irrelevant itk and a few happy snaps with idols who are ultimately all a bit normal (albeit loaded)
Nice to hear JJetset is out and about with the lads.

I was so tempted to post "fuck the Togolese orphanages, I wants me a new striker", but then I realised that half the site seems to have lost its 'sarcasm' detector.

I blame the weather. And Jenas.

My sarcasm detector chip was implanted at birth mate....that's standard British birth procedure right? ;)

Maybe this is one of those times when charity = both?
I'm sure they are encouraged to do this for several reasons. PR and tax being the 2 main ones. It doesn't take away from the goodness it brings though, and it's not a cynical project to defraud any governments. Some people genuinely want to give back and find themselves in a position to do so. We won't know which suggestion was first; him going to the accountant and saying 'make me a charity, i want to do something good' or his accountant going 'hey, you know what...'

Google about Craig Bellamy and Sierra Leone, if you don't know about it already it may change your opinion on him.

Definitely. Though we all moan about our relevant countries at times.. we're very fortunate to be born, and live in one of the richest countries in the world. Having the kind of money Adebayor has, and visiting friends and family in Togo must rattle his heart. No wonder he's doing something for his country. He's rich by UK standards...imagine how rich he is by Togo standards. If I was in Adebayor's shoes, I wouldn't be able to look a fellow, struggling countryman in the eye if I wasn't doing something with my extreme wealth to help out. Fairplay to him. I hope it(and don't think it will) won't break the deal, but I have a world of respect for someone who is unselfish and passionate enough about their country and it's future...to do what he does.

Agreed. Last weekend I joined a group of people here in Muscat to give out cold bottles of water to the migrant workers who have to work on construction sites during the intense heat. It was 42 degrees, as if to illustrate the point. Not a huge gesture but better than looking the other way. I make 10x what they do each month, they build the country. In comparison, I do fuck all for my money. The least I can do is donate my time and some money to help.

Charity = tax avoidance.
I would assume that if City makes the donation then it will be their deduction and not Adebayor's. Which would mean that his motivation is philanthropic rather than mercenary.

I heard through various sources that when ade left the scum he was forced to train alone and away from the first team, alot of their players wouldn't even speak to him. So on his last day he turned up at the training camp and nicked all the players kits, boots, clothes and sent them out to Togo for charity. Some say that was why the spat with RVP came about. Not sure how true but he is legend in my eyes for doing such a stunt.

It would be illegal in this scenario if tax was not paid on the amount given to charity, as it is clearly a donation for which a service is assumed, in lieu of income.

Finally got my hands on the incriminating photo that put Dragon1 in hot water!

Not doubting you but if Adebayor was training alone and away from the first team then what was he doing at training camp surely he would have been kicked out of the door by Wenger and that is a shitload of gear how would he carry it all to his car without anyone noticing?

I would be surprised if city agree to this, Adebayor based on age and his record last season is worth 20m in today's market so City are taking a 15m hit in reality in terms of open market so why would they subsidise him to the tune of 50k a week? Not gonna happen IMHO

Have no idea, just passing on what I heard. I'm guessing he had people(s) with him

Without going to off topic, I think it's decent when footballers at least do something for charity. Look at klinsmann.

If I was a footballer of concentrate on this country though (obviously as its my own). There's so much that goes on that most people don't even realise. think it's all abroad because it's thrown in front of their faces every day on tv. You only need to spend ten minutes walking around central London to see homeless starving people.

What Ade does in Togo is very noble and worthy but if he accepts our offer then he still has 65k a week to live on after giving 50k to charity, surely he can afford to live on 65k a week it would take me nearly 2 years to earn that

Im not a racist but.........

Mate I think as with all the ITK you just have to take it with a bit of salt and as far as Aqka is concerned he believes its true otherwise he wouldnt posting especially when he has taken the time to spell check LOL

Do you guys still consider Akqayid ITK??? The past few pieces of info he posted recently were imaginative and factually inaccurate and there was quite a bit of backtracking from Akqayid. To put it diplomatically some of Akqayid's recent info seem to be getting as "creative" as Adiepf ramblings last year.

I completely agree mate. I couldn't imagine having that much money and I have quite a good job. It's unreal.

Security at training grounds is water tight, if it is anything like an F1 factory if your name isn't on the list you aren't coming in so Ade couldn't just bring a load of his mates.

I am sure you have been passed on this info in good faith but too many flaws to make it likely

Don't mean to go off topic either, but it's true what you're saying. I worked with homeless people in Bristol 10 years ago. It's shocking. I met people from ALL different walks of life that had been reduced to their very minimum. I'll never forget a young surgeon that messed up an operation. Because of this, and the domino effect it had on his life, he spiralled out of control - and went from being one of the top young surgeons in London, to an alcoholic infused wreck - losing all his family and friends. He was a great bloke, incredibly intelligent too. He could just never get back on that "horse" of life, after he fell off. I agree, there are a lot of worthy causes right on our doorstep - which maybe our own super-rich football "stars" should be putting more money and time into.
