I'm convinced Luka will go eventually anyway but I'm worried about our ability to get a replacement in. The striker situation worries me increasingly. Our failures to address this post Berba are well known and I wonder how many points/games not getting in a replacement has cost us. Adebayor was a good move last season but we knew it was short term and really we should have been ready to pounce for a replacement as soon as the window opened.

We seem to struggle to address our issues consitently and its getting frustrating. We have sold bent for £10m, crouch for £10m, Pav for £8m and Keane for £3m and haven't spent any of this on a striker. Doesn't add up one bit.

Luka being told he can leave if Real Madrid come in is fine, and I'm sure that's probably the case. What it doesn't mean is that he can leave no matter what, no matter whether our valuation is met and Real Madrid dictating the negotations.
Yeah, I assume that's "come in with an acceptable offer". He and his agent may even have been told the acceptable amount by Levy. Real will have to pay the money if they want him, but do they want him that much?

AVB has mentioned it plenty of times in his interviews... the club has an interest it needs to protect etc. They either meet our valuation or come extremely close to doing so to give us some proper consideration or we all move on from it.

What a strange feeling. We are on the brink of greatness and disaster at the same time. Seriously if we sell any of vdv, Sandro, walker, Kaboul or bale we might as well just give up. I would seriously question the judgement of levy and Avb. We have enough gaps to fill already. Pretty much everyone else is replaceable, but given the amount we need already I can't see us replacing them in time, and if we did it would be at the expense of other positions we need to fill.

Surely they aren't that stupid though, and we get the players we need, namely 2 strikers, gk, winger and a mod replacement if he goes. 5 top players away from having a top quality squad capable of challenging. At this point I would take just two top quality strikers and a returning gds to hopefully maintain where we were last season, but given teams around us strengthing it would be incredibly difficult to finish top 4 again. Can we really get the 5 we need in the time available? We need to start bloody soon if we are! Coys

If I was Ade and knew that we were after Llorente 1st, before signing him as 2nd best, I would tell us to where to go and look elsewhere for another club.

I could however understand Sandro's depature if he was to leave. He largely played second fiddle to Parker last season and Redknapp I believe hugely neglected him. (although he did have one or two injuries) You could easily argue that Sandro would have rarely got a look in last season if Parker hadn't of got injured in the latter stages.
I believe AVB will play Sandro/Parker Thudds and then Modric/Moutinho in the middle of the park - With possibly Sandro and Parker being utilised for harder away games and Thudds being dropped (largely due to his immobility)

Although Parker has an amazing attitude and work rate I feel he largely is let down by his decision making when he occasionally does arrive in the final third. Sandro on the other hand is still relatively inexperienced but is already showing he has far more to offer than Parker as an all round player.

Sandro over Parker for me this season with Parker playing the prior mentioned bit role for away hard games and filling in when Sandro is fatigued/injured/generally unavailable.

Hugely neglected? Cmon.

He played a decent amount of matches considering his injuries.

I LOVE Sandro, but he was pretty hit or miss last season as well. He is young so it is to be expected but people act like he should of been the first name on the team sheet it really wasn't the case.

Parker carried us for many a game last season too, his first team appearances were fully justified imo.

Nothing can equal the disapointment (Spurs wise) than the failure we displayed to build on our squad post CL.

I learnt a lot about our club rulers after that.

Yet you still learnt less about our club's situation, and went backwards re: learning the difference between gambling and running a business.

Way to go, backwards learner!

Assuming that he has other clubs to choose from. With his wage level, we are probably his only realistic option.

True, but he could just stick it at Man City, still be paid and be on a constant holiday doing charity work in Togo.

Or Man City sell him to AC Milan to replace Ibra! I can actually picture Leandro and Ade upfront for Milan next season. Wait hang on a minute, that could be us!

I'm sure they wouldn't have let him know. I can imagine Levy in the meetings:

"Yes Ade, it's all good to go, now let me just go and find a pen and we can get this all signed and sealed..."

*runs off to phone Athletic Bilbao

Can't we just sign Adebayor, Leandro and Llorente?

Personally I can see Milan using the money to balance the books and signing a bargain striker like Berbatov. I sure hope so anyway.
