You missed the Vertonghen and Gylfi signings then?

To his defense, Vertonghen isn't technically strengthening as he replaces King. Doesn't matter if he's a great player......still a step down from the King. But few defenders in history would be a strengthening over Ledley (y)

Not at all a step down from King. King can't play most of the season, JV can. King was pretty poor last season, JV is probably still improving.

His being able to play more than 20 game a season makes him a strengthening.

No, they replace King (Verts) & Kranky & Peanut (Sig)....

IMHO the squad as it stands is not any stronger than before....

Can't really say we've not strengthened at all though. A fit Verts in for an injury plagued King is clearly an upgrade, though a fit King would have been even better, but that unfortunatly was never gonna happen.

Its all went a bit Pete Tong after a good start to our transfer window. I had high hopes we would do everything nice and early and have a settled squad ready for Aug 18th, but I should have known, I'll never learn :(

Wow, look at you going all cockney on us :)

Normally I'd agree with your post, but this summers transfer window doesn't really seem to have got going yet for most clubs, probably due to the Euros and the Olympics.

Bashing legends? Oh my, how odd. On his day Ledley was the best defender in the Prem era....forgive me Paul Magath. And there were a lot more of those days than you children seem to want to admit to. He played 259 times in the league alone for us and in all but half a dozen he was FUCKING brilliant....and he did it with shit knees. And he never turned down his country.

You had a chance to glimpse greatness and decided "bit shit in the last few matches of his career". Holy shit, I'm starting to side with Burkinshaw on his famous comment. :(

Getting rid of Lennon would be a massive mistake.

Lennon on the right and Bale on the left scare the opposition defence shitless with their pace

Bashing legends? Oh my, how odd. You people don't deserve a signing. And honestly, Chelsea fans have more of a sense of their history.

We can't play "Three years ago" King. I'm sorry. The guy was a legend, but he retired for a reason. Nobody is bashing what he did for the club. You don't deserve a signing if you think we should be playing the fucking legends team with guys in their 40s and 50s just cuz they used to be great.

I'd also be sad to see Lennon leave however I don't think he's ever really fulfilled his potential and I trust AVB's opinion. If he doesnt feel a player isnt right for the system he wants to play then it's fair enough that we look to sell them. Lennon has had flashes of great stuff but perhaps we could find a better fit for the direction AVB wants to go, lets see how it pans out. I actually don't think Lennon is going anywhere but rumours are rumours.

Sell Lennon while we still have Bentley and Rose in the squad? No chance! Will never happen...

I'd be very sad to see Lennon go however his game is built on pace and acceleration....

How many years does he have left before these assets start to desert him, could / should we take a profit on him now and bring in another player???? Tough call and one that we will only ever be able to judge with hindsight and the quality of the replacement.

Just buy some fucking striker already. All this talk bout several outgoings and incomings, for the first time i really start to get worried we're not gonna be sorted by the Newcastle game.

Here's something new:

akqayid@akqayid
So outgoings.... We're not going to cry over a lot of them.. But Lennon? Who would you choose as a replacement?

akqayid@akqayid
@Robert_Newman_: @akqayid If we can afford them Adam Johnson or Willian” And the winner is......
I wouldn't replace him. I'd buy Adam Johnson as our third winger, you know, the one we need to provide competition for and bring the best out of Lennon (and Bale). Seriously, if we sell Lennon I'll be reaching breaking point. Actually f*ck that I'm already there!
