I don't want to be a negative Nigel, but I struggle to believe that Llorente would come to us.

The Prem is arguably better than a lot of other leagues in Europe, but I find that to be a bit of a rose-tinted view as well. Fabricated mostly by the British media. Hype.

That said, it would be an astounding signing. Being a realist though, I find it massively unlikely. Spurs' transfer strategies these last few windows have been a bit baffling. I was chuffed about Vertonghen and Gylfi, but the last time I got truly excited about a signing was van-der-Vaart.

In terms of Modric, he can do one. I found his input last season to be a bit patchy. Some games he hardly looked to be trying. And his goal tally was pretty poor.
I liked what I saw of Sigurdsson In the Newcastle game. I think he'll score far more goals this season than Modric did last. Whether he can command a game like the rat boy did though, that remains to be seen.

Pleased that Ade seems to be done.
Still a little underwhelming for my tastes though. I'd like to see at least one other on top of Adebayor to come in. If not, then I think we can kiss a top four finish goodbye.

We need goal threats. A lot of them.

Leandro is a yiddo, Leandro is a yiddo

Dont get why people keep going on about Juventus being bigger than us! Is Schalke bigger than us? Is benfica? They both have CL this year, and their leagues are ranked higher than Italy's league at the moment! Italy's league is crap nowadays, and the only thing Juventus has is history! But they are by no means a more attractive proposition than us! Let alone the fact they could at any minute be sent two divisions down for match fixing!

Would be about right, Man City signs Leandro then years down the road they get someone else, we finally get him in a Spurs shirt on loan.

er... i love the spurs, st holder, worked for the club, been chirpy on a matchday, played on the pitch, met (and fell in man-love with) bmj... but I'd have to say that Juve are bigger than us. I'm not gonna neg rep you, but I do disagree...

I think my hopes for Llorente/Leandro/Remy/Soldado signing are based on the potential issue down the line with Ade without Harry's love? Ade loves now, loved us last season, but in the interim he wasn't that bothered and was pricing himself out of a return, we seems like his only option at the moment. His attitude across his career has been questionable, discipline issue etc - what happens when AVB has to lay the law down or drops Ade? Ade will be a senior pro citing the issues of the Chelsea senior players AVB's last time out? Ade alone just ain't enough, wages aside, Llorente seems to be set for a bargains exit from Bilbao, I just thought it was achievable in addition to an Ade deal. Discounting arrival of Llorente now and still another striker is vital, for a manager who stated he was here to challenge for trophies this season

If Llorente goes to Juve for £14 million then we should just pack up and go home as far as the rest of the window is concerned.

Llorente might just want a stop gap contract with Juve till the two Spanish giants come in for him. Doubt Levy would go for that.

€18m is very cheap..................my reflex is then to think why, what's the catch?

There always is one.

With him being 27, I doubt the big 2 would come in for him at age 29 with 2 or 3 years left of his contract at Juve to pay off.

Catch 22 for Llorente.

Juve can off CL. We can't.
Juve can win the league title. We can't.
Juve can offer big wages. We can't.

Just 3 reasons why llorente might consider Juve as a bigger club than us, and a better option to join.

Don't think this is true at all. Just because PSG is spending huge money and buying top players from the Serie A doesn't make Ligue 1 a better league.

Serie A should be pretty good this year I think, it's a bit underrated.

Maybe not but I think Serie A is currently stocked with the lowest standard of player in living memory. Milan have just had their spine ripped out, Inter are trying to cut costs left right and centre & have shipped out Lucio, Forlan and are trying to offload Julio Cesar. Napoli have lost Lavezzi and the only club seeming to make any improvement are Juve. Considering Juve won it fairly comfortably last year and are looking to make some big purchases, Milan, Inter & Napoli downsizing it looks to me that it's going to be considerably less interesting than last year.

Currently Serie A's co-efficient is 51.2% and Ligue 1 is 48.8% which is hardly anything. Germany is 3rd with a 63% co-efficient for example. With all the players that have left Serie A this summer I can see Ligue 1 over taking Serie A by this time next year

This. They may well be willing to pay a decent transfer fee and a year's (high)wages without assurances of him signing a new deal.

The financial issues in Ligue 1, outside of PSG, will make that difficult.
