Maybe it was both? We can multi-task you know!:p

Even when the links to Mouts seemed to have died down, there was never really any suggestion that we were looking for a similar player to fill the Modders void or any credible alternatives mooted. Which makes me think that perhaps Levy has been prepared to shell out on him for all this time but hasn't been able to resist engaging in some Levy-esque attempts at bargaining along the way.
Actually, yes. Apart from the rumblings about Sahin being beaten into submission by all sides and still refusing point blank to entertain the prospect of joining us, there hasn't been any other credible CM links. Apart from a couple of filler articles in the red tops that is. I think you're right.

Shame it couldn't have happened before the season began but sod it, still basking in the sweet, blessed relief that signing Ade has provided.

Kerist. If Roma decide to keep him, they'll be paying over £30m for him all told. Hahahahaaaaa.

Wiki:

On 22 July 2011 Roma bought Bojan for a fee of €12 million. The sale includes a buyback clause allowing Barcelona to resign Bojan in 2012 or 2013, although with the option of Roma paying an additional €28 million to retain the player.[17][18] He made his unofficial debut on 3 August 2011 against Vasas in Budapest.[citation needed] He scored his first goal from an assist from Daniele De Rossi for the Giallorossi against Atalanta on 1 October 2011. He made 33 league appearances for Roma in his first season with the club, scoring seven times in total.[19]

So, if we break this down:

Unless Roma pay the additional 28 million euros, it's in essence a loan which costs Barcelona 1 million Euros.

I'm trying to see what "title" has actually passed hands here and what the EndGame scenarios are.

If he's Roma's player, then the deal is with Roma to sell to us. If Barcelona retain an option, then they still have that option no matter who the player is currently with. That option is therefore worth something, which would mean Barcelona would need 'paying off' in order to merge the separate 'interests' in the player.

That is if you treat the player like a piece of land.

Stekenlenberg would be cheaper than Lloris. Decent keeper. Bojan - no idea why I think this but - has a whiff of GDS mk II about him. How has he done in Italy?

Also, does Bojan not have a buy back clause with Barca. One would have to think if he's had a good couple of seasons they'll be back in for him.
I would say no to both keepers after judging by last seasons performances and the new manager is desperate to get rid of Stekenlenberg apparently
After this season Barca has to buy Bojan back, unless Roma pay another 28M euros.
No they don't they have a buy back clause of €13mill and there is a pre agreed clause for Roma to keep him for €28mill, the clause was there so that if he was a success and Barca wanted to buy him back they would buy him for the pre agreed price
If Roma say dont want to pay that much and Barca dont want him they can do a deal like we did for Ade for a price lower than the agreed price during the loan. If they both dont want him Barca would say keep him as they would lose money buying him and making a loss

Right. Which is why I originally enquired about the buy-back clause. It seems a bit tricky tbh. Not seeing us getting involved myself. Bojan will not be a THFC player in the near future is my call.

Has Adebayor been stamped yet? An OS announcement means nothing, the transfer has to be stamped.

It's an oddly structured deal isn't it - for both parties.

By a happy coincidence I was at work awaiting something to do when the news came through and it was stamped accordingly.

A statement from Barcelona read: "The cost of the operation is 12million euros but includes a compulsory buy-out option to be exercised by Barcelona at the end of the 2012/13 campaign, at a cost of 13million euros.
"This buy-out option can be blocked by AS Roma but in that case, the total cost of the transfer would be 40million euros."

Weird that they have to in effect pay 1 million for a 2 year loan.

But then again, I suppose, they're keeping him playing.

I suppose it's the footballing version of putting the dog in the kennels when you're on holiday.

Because I said so.

Ok maybe they will BUT I don't see Bojan as the type of forward we are even remotely interested in and apart from Steklenburg not being anything special JJetset also pooh pooed him quite emphatically already this window.

Tell you what, if either sign this summer I'll donate £20 to the site.
