I wouldn't say we couldn't expect anything, but we certainly can't expect to do anything for the first few weeks. Anyone who thinks we should have delivered anything different pretty much needs their head examining.

Haha, have we even tried to break them down? Playing like that, we'd struggle to break down a pub team.
What we're struggling to do is to do the basics with a football, like run with it, or pass it.

Just not gonna happen for us, if we're gonna play 4-2-3-1, then we needed vdv. Sig is struggling and can't get involved.
Sandro has been poor, for a Brazilian international his passing and touch have been woeful.
Livermore done nothing.
Defoe.... sigh.
Bale and Lennon offering nothing.
Vertongen has looked shaky and giving the ball away.
The one positive in that half was Friedel. Who we've just signed a replacement for.

Livermore has been really bad. People are going to say he hasn't done a lot wrong but defensively his positioning has been awful, you can see the difference between him and Sandro clear as crystal. Sandro gets himself positioned where defensively the play is in front of him and he goes and cuts it out. Livermore just kind of floats so isn't contributing defensively and doesn't offer anything in an attacking sense to warrant a starting place.
We are so static attacking, almost no off the ball movement at all. For guys with as much pace as Bale and Lennon, they are both so much better moving with the ball than without it. Think our only bet today is to play off Adebayor and let him draw defenders in to him and get runners off him.

I agree to most of that, but thought defoe laid a nice pass on for lennon, which shows he can spot the pass.
Im worried that teams aare just following the Chelsea model when playing a team (supposedly) far superior. They are sitting back with a bank of 4 and 5 about 5 yards between them......

Aside from Vertonghen and Benny we don't have anyone who wants to put their foot on the ball. We aren't retaining possession and moving for each other. Real basic stuff.
I still can't fathom a formation thats loaded with wingers and players wanting to get crosses in but then playing a midget up front on his own. Would prefer a half fit Adebayor.

anyway pretty much what i feared has come to pass
wanted Willian or another wide right forward because lennon is a pile of shite to be honest, theres a reason he has never scored more than 3 goals and never assisted more than 9 in a whole season. predictable and does very little with the pace he has been blessed with
Livermore, could there be a more plain midfield player, master of nothing
