Spurs 1 - 1 Norwich
Dembele Snodgrass

Spurs: Friedel, Vertonghen, Gallas, Walker, Assou-Ekotto, Lennon, Bale, Sigurdsson (Adebayor), Livermore, Sandro (Dembele), Defoe (Hudd)
Subs: Cudicini, Naughton Caulker Townsend

Norwich: Ruddy, R Martin, Bassong, Garrido, Barnett, Johnson, Howson, Pilkington, Snodgrass, Holt, Jackson
Subs: Rudd, Turner, Tierney, Surman, Hoolahan, Tettey, Morison

  1. 1626: GOAL - Tottenham 1-0 Norwich
What a finish this is. Benoit Assou-Ekotto feeds Mousa Dembele on the edge of the box but he still has a lot of work to do, rounding Jonny Howson before arrowing a low shot past John Ruddy and into the bottom corner of the net.
  2. 1642: GOAL - Tottenham 1-1 Norwich
Norwich are level, and it is far too easy. Russell Martin heads a deep cross down for Grant Holt and he tees up Robert Snodgrass to drive his shot past Brad Friedel.
  3. 1646: RED CARD - Huddlestone
Things just got worse for Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas. Tom Huddlestone has only been on for seven minutes but he is already heading for an early bath after being shown a straight red card for a lunging challenge on Jonny Howson.

Spurs and Canaries seek first league victories

Tottenham Hotspur and Norwich City will both be looking for a first Premier League victory of the season when they do battle at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
Spurs went down 2-1 at Newcastle United despite producing a decent display and then had to settle for a draw against West Bromwich Albion after being pegged back by a late equaliser.
As well as the on-field frustrations, new manager Andre Villas-Boas has had to deal with a frantic final period in the transfer window.
The long-running Luka Modric saga finally came to an end with a move to Real Madrid, providing the club with funds to bring in reinforcements.
Villas-Boas will now hope Tottenham can find their best form and surge up the table, just as they did 12 months ago when the end of August signalled a remarkable upturn.
Chris Hughton is another new boss who will be targeting improvement following a slow start to the season for Norwich.
The Canaries were hammered 5-0 by Fulham on the opening day of the campaign, before playing out a 1-1 draw with Queens Park Rangers last time out.
A 2-1 victory over S****horpe United in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday will have boosted morale, but Norwich will now want to start climbing the Premier League standings.

Tottenham

Midfielder Moussa Dembele could be handed his Tottenham debut as Villas-Boas looks to record his first win of the season against Norwich at White Hart Lane.
Steven Caulker could make his first Premier League start after fellow defender Younes Kaboul was ruled out with a knee injury.
Scott Parker (Achilles), Giovani Dos Santos (calf) and Heurelho Gomes (ankle) are unavailable.

Norwich

Simon Lappin will miss Norwich's trip with an ankle ligament injury he picked up in the midweek Capital One Cup victory against S****horpe.
Lappin will be out of action for three weeks, while Robert Snodgrass trained yesterday after suffering a minor leg injury last weekend and should be fit.
Goalkeeper Mark Bunn will not make the trip after signing from Blackburn but midfielder Alex Tettey could feature from the bench.

Tottenham's new £15m signing Mousa Dembele could make his debut for the club after moving from Fulham.
Fellow Belgian Jan Vertonghen will continue to partner William Gallas in central defence, with Younes Kaboul ruled out for up to four months.
Simon Lappin will miss out for Norwich due to an ankle injury, but fellow midfielder Robert Snodgrass should be fit after a minor leg problem.
New signing Alex Tettey is likely to be named on the substitutes' bench.

Respected Norwich manager Chris Hughton came through the ranks at Tottenham to make more than 300 senior appearances in 13 years at White Hart Lane as a player. He'll get a fantastic ovation from the crowd.
Both he and Andre Villa-Boas have something in common right now: both are searching for their first league win of the season.
Spurs were frustrated to concede that late goal against West Brom last week. They have been so busy in the transfer market, so this match - which they'll expect to win - may be a day of discovery for fans. They'll want clues about how their team will take shape in the coming months, in terms of formation and personnel. I rate new signing Mousa Dembele highly, and his arrival has eased the disappointment of Luka Modric's departure.

I was there when Norwich won 2-1 at White Hart Lane in April, and to finish 12th in the Premier League after two promotions has set the bar pretty high.
Virtually all of the players assembled by previous manager Paul Lambert were from modest backgrounds and there was little Premier League experience in that squad. Sebastien Bassong is quite an important signing in that respect, with more than 80 top-flight games under his belt.
There has been a lot of spending in this transfer window, but once again Norwich haven't broken the bank. Hughton's main job will be to ensure that 'second-season syndrome' doesn't bite. Some Norwich fans may be slightly worried about season of struggle, but it's early days.

Head-to-head
    • Tottenham have won six of the 10 previous Premier League meetings between the two clubs, with Norwich triumphing twice.
    • The Canaries won 2-1 in April at White Hart Lane last season, while Spurs won 2-0 at Carrow Road in December 2011.
    • The highest-scoring match between them at White Hart Lane came when Spurs won 5-1 in the Premier League on 9 April, 1993.
    Tottenham
    • Spurs have now won just four of their last 15 Premier League matches.

Norwich look pretty crappy this season. 2 games and 7 goals against and only 1 for.

This 'should' be a routine win.... 'should' be. lol.

We owe them some payback. We're going to show up big time on Saturday and this is going to kick start our season.

We owe them a good spanking! I made the long trip over to the lane last season against them when we got beat by Norwich. I was a tad annoyed to say the least. At least I got to meet and chat to Harry Redknapp before the match though, that was interesting...

There's a spare seat available for tomorrow's match.

If anyone wants to sit in it, PM me to discuss arrangements.

Please drop the useless Defoe, lest we waste more chances, points and games. Couldn't even handle the West Brom defence. What a lightweight.

Also 4-3-3 no Livermore please.

Can't wait for this one. Looking forward to seeing a midfield trio of Sandro, Dembele and Gylfi. That's a tasty trio, then you add in Ade, Bale and Lennon up front.

We are due to give Norwich some payback for that pityful home performance at the end of last season. Louis Saha gave a shocking performance last season.

Hope everyone who was down in the ITK thread last night can look forward to a sparkling performance from the boys!

COYS!
