I'm disappointed that we missed out on JM in the summer. He really could have been the player that knits defence and attack together, supported by the likes of Dembele bombing on and Sandro protecting the back 4.

But, we failed to sign him for various reasons and looking at the way we play now, with the likes of Parker coming back and Dempsey and Gylfi being given more of a chance to impress, I'll be amazed if we try again. A lot of money for someone to join in January with not a huge amount of time for them to bed into the team before the season's climax.

Missed the boat, I think, but we may still sign someone yet (the likes of Christian Eriksen perhaps)

Nope. Our window to sign him was the last day in the summer. The January premium that applies to players would almost certaintly lift his price tag above Levy's reach (which, due to his small stature renders him incapable of reaching past "moderatively expensive" when breaking out his step ladder at the TransferSupermarket).

Even if we have a cool 20-30 million available and it was AVB's to spend (who has already said he's not prepared to spend big in Jan) he might be more tempted to go after other attacking options, as Dembele seems to be doing a good job of shoring up midfield and bringing the ball forwards (yes, I know they are different styles of player).

I was in Lisbon recently and perhaps because Benfica are deadly rivals of Porto, most think we have no chance of getting Moutinho.
They claim the Porto Chairman is not only as cunning as DL but also backed by the Mafia?

January window is mostly for players who 1) have a club that has nothing to play for 2) contract running out. Porto is still in the CL, Mouthinho earn almost as much in Porto as Levy's willing to offer him and there are clubs (like some Russian) who can pay higher transfer fees and salary than Spurs. Afraid Spurs lost their chance last summer - after 2-3 months of negotiations they still couldn't solve the owner ship thing.

I just cant see this happening, I always wanted Dembele over him and thought in the last window Moutinho would be the icing or the cherry on the cake tbh but even then I would of rather had Isco

I really don't think some people understand just how good he is and how much more well-rounded we'd be with him in the squad. Anytime you watch a Portugal or Porto match, if Moutinho is on the pitch, it's almost as if any substantial buildup starts with him. His teammates seek him, he wants the ball, and he always has an idea with what he's going to do with it. We desperately need more of that.

The only detractor of signing Moutinho would be that 'Carroll's Time' would be pushed back a bit. I still think he should go out on loan for a season (Would love to see him go to Swansea), though.

Now thats a really good shout.
