morning all. hope you've all been down to the pharmacy. whatever happens, even if no-one comes in, i think the next 38hrs in here is going to be a previously unseen level of mental. (y)
I was out sick last month with a disc problem. Was on OxyContin (hillbilly heroin). I still have one left - saved it for deadline day.

If JD is out and we don't sign a striker then this will get very ugly for DL. We can eat our own very well and the crowd get restless if we're not 3-0 up after 20 minutes these days.

I can only imagine the bile those poor souls trapped in loveless marriages searching for 90 minutes of relative happiness every week will spit in DL's direction. Couldn't really blame them either.

But how many people will be aware enough of the situation to blame DL? It will be AVB who takes the flack, I think...

Wouldn't be too surprised if we don't bid for Danny Graham, average player transfer request in, was playing in Watford... cheap deal and cover like Saha was

I do get why we are all crying out for a striker but Levy is clearly banking on Togo not beating Tunisia and having Adebayor back for the weekend

Would be utterly ridiculous if we went into February without a fit striker on our books.

With no forward, a striker is surely a fantastic investment. It just cannot be argued. We need one. Fact.

3 days to go. COYS.

I don't think the world will collapse in if we don't sign a striker. We have all been here before. Not addressing our glaring problem is hardly new to Tottenham is it?

We will just have to get on with it.

Don't fancy us for 4th if Dempsey is the lone forward for any extended period though.

The defender 100% is Toby Alderwield

Agreed, this was suggested a few weeks back, Alderwield was being lined up for the summer, but if Gallas was to go to QPR it could be brought forwards.

Defoe getting injured seems to have changed the dynamic big time and rightly so, I would imagine that some toys might get thrown out of a pram this week if avb fails get what he wants from pappa levy for the second time.

Like Jet2 said there is no where to hide for Daniel as a failure to qualify for cl will be due to the fact we lack depth and that can't be avbs fault.

Yeah, I just can't see any way we won't bring a new striker in, regardless of having someone in mind for the summer. We needed one before Ade went to Africa, and even more so now Defoe has allegedly picked up a 3-4wk injury. Teams chasing top four do not do so by just 'making do' in a position so critical as striker.
AVB is paying the game right by not making a fuss in public, but behind closed doors there must have been serious discussions how if Levy wants the club in CL, with the money and global marketing coverage that comes with it (important you'd think with stadium naming rights on the horizon), then he has to give AVB the tools to do the job.
Potentially it will be a cheap punt on a relatively low key player who they may feel has bigger potential, or at the very least maybe a loan player.
If money really is that tight, maybe a loan for Morata, or someone like Szalai, suppsoedly £3m, mid twenties, scoring at roughly 1 in 2 in the Bundesliga, has played with Holtby before too so could help eachother settle in. Maybe Icardi if the paper talk is true and he's available at only £2m, young yet already doing the business for Sampdoria.
Just please no aged broken players like Saha.
Going back to last nights ITK, from Jasper I think, about a loan player, not a forward, wasn't there talk of Obiang from Sampdoria wanted on a loan to buy, young Spanish DM?

Ryan's just said on twitter we will definitely have someone to wear the no. 9 shirt this week (and it's not Holtby as he is no. 23)

what does that have to do with anything? only city or Chelsea can work on transfers year round?
No but they're the only clubs who are rich enough to splash out in the first few weeks of the window when prices are set ridiculously high....the rest of us have to wait until the last few days of the window, when selling clubs have to lower their valuations or risk not selling at all.
It doesn't matter how long the club have been working on a transfer....the last few days are when there's bargains to be had,and thats when Levy gets to apply even more pressure to achieve the deal that he wants. Its called good business.

Of course, however even the majority of our rather slow-witted brethren would be hard pressed to blame AVB for not playing players we don't have. I think we will have been left short in a crucial area one too many times, and under too many different managers/coaches for it to fly any longer. Regardless of the rights and wrongs, the financial implications etc. If we're left with an Ade, who isn't firing on all cylinders and returning from the ACN, and Dempsey as our strikers for the rest of the season, someone will be the target for abuse. I think it might just be DL this time.

Naturally this is a hypothetical. It seems as if DL realises we need a striker. Remains to be seen if he can bag us one. Not long now.

Few reports going round that we may be interested in Eder from Braga. AVB has worked with him before.
Probably more press claptrap tbh. I do think this is the sort of signing we might expect though - even if not him.

Edit - I article on newsnow which also refers to The Mirror - that great bastion of all news!

Interesting read from the Journalist. So Lyon might be looking to sell a few players?

Well they have a striker called Gomis! 6 months on his contract a free transfer in the summer!

IMO it has LEVY written all over it
