Our striker situation has, for a fair old while been an utter shambles.

There is no disputing that.

However, we have to give Levy and Co until the end of the transfer window.

Then we can go nutts.

Give it until Espanyol at home I reckon, then we should voice our frustration and let him know. Once window is closed it's too late.

Wait for the right deal?
How many seasons do we have to wait?

These things take time, no value in the market, we tried hard on this one, patience is a fucking virtue, something fucking cryptic, we have to sell before we buy, "you know what Daniel's like" etc.

Repeat as required.

Well one good thing coming out tonight was AVB saying Bale was not for sale at any price (expected but nice to hear anyway)

The tabloids can keep going all they like - but's that that. Line drawn.

Does it really? 79 in 232 games, some really barren seasons and even last year, his best ever season, he only scored 2 more than Defoe.

I haven't seen enough of him play to know his strengths but his goal record certainly doesn't speak for itself (at least it doesn't speak too highly of itself)
I meant in the last _ seasons, before that he was a terrible goalscorer. He only scored 2 more goals than defoe but in a lot fewer games. His record last season in the league was 16 in 29. His record in the league for the last 3 seasons is 40 goals in 79 appearances which it's pretty darn good. Also he offers strength, directness and genuine ability, he is far from just a finisher.

So a list of potentially available strikers - admittedly taken off of Fifa because I am not an international scout.

Soldado, Destro from Roma, Rodrigo from Benfica, Traore from Anzhi, Damiao, Ibarbo from Cagliari, Remy, Oliviera from Portugal, De Jong from Bor. M'Glad., Lacazette from Lyon, Doumbia from CSKA, Yilmaz, Cisse, Immoblie from Genos, Martinez from Porto, Lopez from Lyon.

Don't know how many of these are realistic or doable. They have to find someone though. I like Rodrigo (who supposedly Spurs were linked to earlier) and Oliviera as young options.

We already have a striker called this.

my main issue is what strikers that can improve us are realistically available anymore?
Soldado will cost over £20m (we don't spend that on one player), Higuain will want Champions League Football, who else is there that we can realistically sign?
I think we missed a big opportunity last season when Berbatov went to Fulham so cheaply he would have done just as good a job as we wanted Villa to do & for less money than we wanted to spend on Villa & he is proven in the premier league.
I am a little worried we will pay about £10m on some second rate Striker like Hooper or Jordan Rhodes & be talking about them in Rasiak/Booth terms 2-3months into the season.
We need to stop thinking about 2nd September as the deadline we need to sort our squad out for the 1st 3 games of the season for once & go to the Emishits with confidence after 2 wins!

It's disappointing when we read the papers and everything points towards us making a signing that should improve us and then it's taken away from us in one big swoop.

We have had disappointing windows for a while now regarding the striker situation. Even gooners I speak to are shocked we have resolved it.

I honestly have faith we will do something about it this window. I mean, why bring on baldini otherwise?

If we don't then I will just have to accept that we won't be moving forward until this stadium business is sorted. That would be depressing...

Another thing that concerns me is the attitude of the supporters towards Defoe and Ade. Patience has gone completely, and I suspect vocal frustration will reach fever pitch next season.

People have had enough. The atmosphere was already hostile last season. What's it going to be like when Ade misses his twentieth sitter in a row?

But I think someone mentioned in the discussion yesterday or before that Ade is "untouchable" atm, don't remember who. It was not exactly ITK per say. It was one of the regulars posting that he had been to the Hotspur way or something and passing info in good faith. Anyhow, my point being I feel he will contribute in a better way this season than the previous.

Still not sold on the idea of selling Ade.

Imagine you're just getting in from work, finally got rid of the wife, and are just sitting down to peruse the ITK discussion thread....you see 44 pages and get really excited. You start at page 1 because you don't want to miss one ounce of excitement, totally oblivious to the carnage that is about to unfold.

Feel for those poor fuckers.

Fact is, if Ade can be arsed, we have our £20m striker.

I just hope Ade puts the effort in. If he was reliable there wouldn't be such a pressing need to bring someone new in.

There are an absolute f*ckload. Comments like that are madness, sheer madness. Not having a go, just helping you out. They might not be a SUPERSTAR, but how many of those could we have legitimately claimed could have come at the end of last season or one-two-three years before that. We don't pay £150k+ a week, so that "quality/calibre/level" of striker is beyond us and has always been.

It only just dawned on me today how much time I spend on here. Began to feel a little guilty for not giving something back.

Somebody please tell me how to donate before I spend it on a cheap striker...

On the SC home page there's a yellow 'donate' button to the right hand side of the page (y)
