Interesting detail in some financial info posted by fUnKy in the Soldado thread:

http://swissramble.blogspot.co.uk/2011/12/tottenham-grounds-for-optimism-or.html

"UEFA’s new Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, which mean that clubs can only spend the income they generate through the activities of the football club, provide an added incentive to build a new stadium. As Levy has pointed out, “If you look at the stadium capacities of the top 20 clubs in Europe, they all exceed ours.” Not only that, but UEFA’s new regulations actively encourage such investment, as any costs incurred for a new ground, such as interest on loans, is excluded from their break-even calculation.

This is important for Spurs, because, although the club has publicly welcomed UEFA’s attempts to “level the playing field”, as this should vindicate their prudent approach, it will not be easy for them to break-even without the infusion of Champions League money – or selling players."

So, not starting to build until FFP comes in actually benefits us... Interesting. Is that the reason nothing on the stadium side has started yet?

FFP is already in play, it has been since last season if I remember correctly. The end of this past season was the first period that expenditure had to be accounted for. The periods where we will have to account for FFP are usually three year ones but the first period, the one that has just finished was only two years. This coming season will be the third year on the second period of FFP. This is because the three year accounting periods all over-lap.

I highly doubt it. If I've understood correctly, under FFP you have to generate all the expenditure yourself, which we do anyway. We're not receiving outside help to buy players, unless Joe Lewis is finally splashing the cash so it doesn't look like there's a last minute rush to spend money on players before we aren't able to.

This was posted in the Daily itk thread by the yid yesterday:

Just spoke to my uncle he's working on the new stadium as an architect said it will be done in 2-3 years just having trouble buying out 1 or 2 places it's being moved it's not having 3 sides built and the last stand built as we play there! Just thought I'd share he's a gooner though

Only one way that that's possible, though.

The supermarket etc is nearly complete. So there's now not enough space between it and the Paxton Road end to accommodate a 60K stadium on a north / south axis. Nor can the footprint be rotated 90 degrees - I can't see Spurs demolishing the school on the other side of Worcester Avenue and building a new one elsewhere!. And there's no way that Spurs could or would play in a partly demolished current WHL for a season or two.

That would leave playing elsewhere for a season or two as the only option. Olympic stadium, after all?

OK, you're forgiven. I just get pissed off with people coming on here and slagging off the area. Only Tottenham residents are allowed to call it a shithole.

The 'community group' is a bunch of mad-eyed tossers, self-righteous, self-important and self-appointed. They don't speak for the community, or anyone but themselves, and they seem to want Tottenham to remain as it is. Levy will be perfectly aware of this.

You should see the street next to the old Canon site after dark. Fucking littered with prostitutes! The area is getting worse, so it's of vital importance that Tottenham press ahead! :D

When I want to know how long it's going to take to complete a new development, I don't ask an architect. If there's no one about except an architect to ask, I'll ask an architect and then add 50%.

The business about deciding not to play in a 3/4 finished stadium keeps cropping up, but I don't see why people have such a problem with the idea. It's a really simple, sensible, not very expensive solution and I can't see why the club would change it, unless there is some technical or safety problem associated with playing in the incomplete stadium. I think people who insist that we are not going to do that are probably generally uninformed and are spinning bullshit.

Moving or turning the stadium, other then just tweaking it a few metres one way or the other, would require a new planning application, a major redesign and a long delay. Unless there is a dramatic increase in capacity or a dramatic decrease in cost that would stem from such a change, it's not plausible, especially not with the North development, which links in with the completed stadium, already under construction.

Trust me, once you see these girls you wouldn't want to be anywhere near them! They take their customers behind people's fences for a bit of quick in plain sight of everyone with their pimps lurking around. Police don't do anything! The shit hole is shockingly getting worse! Can't wait for the new stadium to be built!

My mate lives on york road. I had a drink with him the other day and he said he was going to get a brass that night. I asked him how much one would cost and he said £5!

As for playing in a 3/4 stadium the only problem i see is getting in and out, it could be a fair trek walking from one side to the other as you'll have to walk round the old stadium. When do they close paxton road?

My bet is as soon as they get Archway out.

Can't see how we could move it, if we could we'd have done it that way from the beginning, unless of course we knock down the north stand and play in 3/4 of the existing ground for a year.
