Grey fox update and the other ITK have so much more credibility than Marca, sky sports sources and other media outlets in my eyes. This is this years transfer saga and they will sell a shit load of papers off the back off it. Had to laugh at the Suns headline of Bales Mum help to force through the move. As if Bales Mum can get through to Levy better than RM's millions.
Should we send A&C round to see his mum?

Thanks, i wondered

When Sony were making the Formula 1 97 Playstation game they struck a deal with the GPDA drivers association which meant they could use the drivers names and images, as Jacques Villeneuve was not signed up to the GPDA they did not have the rights to him so had to use a pretend name as his fee was too big so i wondered if it is similar in football where paying a fee to the FA/PL gives them rights to everyone/everything

If EA bought out a game called Gareth Bale Football that would be a Bale licencing deal so wondered if Bale would be paid for being on the cover

Didn't something similar happen with fat Ronaldo in an old FIFA game? He was called number 9 or something. It was when he was at Inter if I recall.

I get that d-oh was probably for 'South America and Mexico'. Made a mistake, and I'm probably not the first and won't be the last.

In any case, Grey Fox thanks for the update today and hope your words are true. (y)

I really fail to see how the timing of the release of some computer game is pertinent to ITK.

why would they have to do all that?

wouldnt they just keep bale on the frontcover but just photoshop the madrid top rather than finding a new player which they couldnt at this stage

why would they have to remake character models?

it wouldnt be ideal but i dont think it's horrendous and it's probably happened tons of times to EA in the past not just in Fifa but NBA.NFL,NHL, F1, NCAA etc etc

Gotta say, despite the fear of A&C's dildo, I can't see Bale leaving us causing too much trouble to EA. BT, HP and our new signings though would feel rightly aggrieved .

Is it telling that the whole media storm, which coincidently kicked off not long after Paulinho signed, be caused by Bales agents cos they didn't expect us to meet their demands?....

We sign Paulinho, Bales agent gets twitchy. Sign Chadli, agent starting to panic, best get in touch with Marca. Soldado almost done, mass panic, "Gareth son, you're gonna have to throw a tantrum"

Yes indeedy. This summer could prove very beneficial to the mental health of several of us next summer. At least it's getting us accustomed to him leaving and regardless of what happens this summer, that day is approaching rapidly.

Exactly - remember when the Modric stuff first happened it was the same mental breakdown in here, then the following summer everyone was already resigned to him leaving and was quite happy to just say 'get rid and get maximum £££' which, whilst a bit miserable, at least allowed us to move on and we ended up being more excited by potential new players and our new manager.

I'm liking a lot of the new posters that have come out from the lurking shadows. They're definitely brinning the funny.:D
Message count today has risen from 1 to 19 (although I'm guessing 20 by the time I post this), and I have a strange sense of satisfaction about all of the positive ratings they have received. Having been at work since 07:45, I consider this my biggest achievement today, which is quite sad really.

And strange, since it seems I've been a member for over 6 years now. That's a lot of anonymous lurking!

The HP factor is more relevant - they will have paid up on sponsorship on the basis that Bale will be all over the papers in our shirt with their logo on it - at least this season. Goes hand in hand with the Times Square stuff too.

Bale's agent must be aware...

It also has be thought about that if Bale was to move he would have to renegotiate all of his comercial deals with Real Madrid and see what percentage they would want of each deal.
I'm pretty sure at Spurs, Bale would own a very large percentage of his commercial rights and we would only stand to make small profits but as many have said, RM will only be buying Bale for his commercial saleability so i'm sure they would be less willing to give him such a large piece of the profits.

I have very good information that this is wrong. They would give a shit. Sorry Bobbykins ;)

But isn't Bale only on the UK, Ireland and Middle East versions of the game? So they could pull it i guess and just launch the generic global edition with just Messi on it and maybe fine Bale!? There is never a guarantee that a player will remain, Bale has his EA deal, BT and now Lucozade, not to mention the NBC (?) and HP advertising and of course Spurs adverts. All suggests he is committed but the fact is he would have signed clauses that meant if he moved then he'd probably have to pay some of the orgs compensation. Nothing stopping him from moving, especially if he gets a tasty new salary from Madrid etc. My gut feeling has always been however that he will stay and if this summer has been pushed by his agent then i hope he reconsiders his advisers. One thing that i still believe doesn't add up is the lack of comment from Spurs. I think we are enjoying a bit of the limelight on this topic and trying to use it to keep our name in the papers, possibly a risky strategy but it would say to new players that we are a forward thinking club that is talked about around europe that doesn't need to sell and wants to build something special.....want to join.....

Anyway, i really hope Soldado is secured soon as this is starting to feel a little Benteke/Villa esc as aposed to the Paulinho and Chadli deals. As for another A grade player, i struggle to imaging what position we would need that in if we are keeping Bale so will follow your wishes and not add speculative guesses.

EA always had this problem with Michael Jordan in the 90s with their "NBA Live" games.

I don't know why but I envisage Bales Mum like the mum in the Life of Brian movie.

Regarding the FIFA cover, it's not someone who PLAYS in that region, but someone who is FROM that region. Chicarito doesn't play in South America, yet is on the cover every year. All they'd have to do really, is photo-shop Bale into the Madrid kit (the image now is already photo-shopped. Then all they'd have to do it capture some sequences for him playing for Madrid in the game. Not hard for EA.

Having said all that, I doubt he's leaving this Summer.

Chicarito is not from S. America, he is from Mexico. undefined

Its gotta be a left back probably atm i'd say Coentrao!

No way. Madrid won't sell to us unless we let them go for Bale.

Anyone else think that the footballers' agents are destroying the game. Can't help but think the whole Bale saga would be over long ago if not for his douchebag agent.

I'm not at all convinced the agent isn't just trying to get something approaching a "fee" included into any contract GB might sign with us this summer. New contract but if a club offers X amount, he will be allowed to agree terms etc.

I don't think DL will go for that but worth a try. Although, several people have intimated that DL and GB's agent are meant to be quite friendly so who knows really.

Net result of this speculation now is that just a few short weeks ago people were talking about £60m being the high end of a realistic price for him. We already have an absolute bare minimum now and which is significantly higher at £85m. This is doing our club zero harm right now. Only good.
