It is silly talk in a way but the post above yours is spot on.

If you're talking about replacing the quality that Bale showed last year in this League, Suarez is right up there to do just that - proven in this League.

Yes he's a fuck, yes most won't want him in our top...I understand that completely. Yes a deal would be very unlikely.

But he would fill the void left by Bale in terms of sheer quality and match winning ability. Hell he'd offer more in our overall attacking build play as well.

Yes, agree with that, no doubting his ability, would I take him? Yup, most definitely!

Just saying that there's no point in getting our hopes up as it will never happen.

Suarez would be easily half of the Bale money and then probably another £5m in wages. Plus we'd have to convince him we're a better bet than anyone else he could hope for.

Can ANYONE see that happening? Even if it did, it'd be towards the end of the window, at which point we could have thrown a few games away like we did last year.
With Suarez we do that anyway. He is suspended.

He can't play for the first 6 league games anyway I dont think.

If we lose Bale so be it but we have no history of being able to adequately replace our top players. Secondly not too sure what message this sends out to Paulinho who was told bale is staying let alone, Verts, LLoris, who joined because we told them we would invest in top signings and Soldado for that matter I would speculate. Thirdly no one can actually replace Bale hes a one off. I would disappointed if we sign Bernard not to sure what the fascination with him is. Lamela I think that is a massive pipe dream. All in all what ever so called top 3 players we sign I think it will be under whelming because we just never quite pull it off and always come up massively short of the big ambition and big players were hoping to pull off.

have to remember the wages involved with signing top players, can't see us bringing in 3 top players if bale goes to be honest, suarez alone would command bigger wages than bale is on now for a start. still hope we send madrid packing without bale.

we are spending €26 million on one player. We also never had the means to do that before, so things may have changed.

You could be right but I am very skeptical I very much doubt we will spend all the Bale money on replacing him. I think we will look to the future as usual not the here and now.

Yep, and reckon both of those will be wingers/attacking midfielders. Wouldn't be completely suprised to see C.Eriksen as one of them. 1 year left on contract, so would be rather easy to complete on rather quick note even if asking price is rather steep considering lenght of remaining contract (still under €20m).

Eriksen going to Barcelona I heard this week , but not till next summer

This is all just really quite disgraceful in so many ways. It goes to show just how pathetic the footballing world has become.

Essentially, Madrid have tapped Bale up, ok so there isn't rumours of secret meetings in cafes and things but it's the same as what Madrid do every transfer window. They just absolutely bombard whichever player they want with so many kiss ass stories, quotes of how great they would be at Madrid and start bouncing around figures of how much they could earn with them. It's not even just like it's the club's president either. Zidane, Ancelotti, Ramon, Cassilas. They all get involved and start talking about how they look forward to playing with whoever the target is. They have a newspaper in Marca that quite clearly doesn't care about its own reputation and instead just make up absolute lies in order to turn the players head.

If your Gareth Bale how could your head not be turned? It's nigh on impossible.

What astounds me even more are the likes of sky sports, the apparently independent and non biased sports reporting entity. They WANT Bale to leave, they want him to join Madrid. All of their reports are given in the tense that Bales already gone, they show highlights of his Spurs career and then say how well he will get on in Spain... Its ridiculous.

Madrid and the media just spend their summer belittling and patronising clubs like ours in order to get the player and story they want. No concern for the damage it does to football or the fact that it is now just a billionaires playground.

We could sign one of the world's best strikers in Roberto Soldado, an amazing signing for us, for anyone in fact. Yet, it will just be lost in the propaganda of Madrid, the story will be changed that we have signed Soldado with the money Madrid are about to give us.

Every year there are less real challengers to each league title, only one of two teams can win la liga. The premiership isn't much different. Every transfer window now is just a chance for lying, cheating, propaganda loving boys toys like Madrid to rip the heart out of the honest clubs and everyone else just gets to watch their own club stand still in the hope they might snatch the odd season in the champions league when someone else slips up. Its disgraceful it really is.

I sort of wonder if Bale will regret moving at this point in time. As sensational as he was for us, I wouldn't necessarily say that he was as consistent as he could have been, and he's clearly still developing as a player. Modric, whilst not as explosive as a player, always seemed to me to be far more consistent in terms of how he played and yet he took months to adjust...

I wonder how Bale will cope in the odd situation of being:
a) In Ronaldo's shadow
b) Under instense scrutiny because of that fee
c) No longer the biggest fish in the pond

Will be interesting to see...

I know we were laughing at SSN earlier but has he actually been training?

I hope so, perhaps a little Comradery make him listen to the voice of reason and pull his head out the clouds.

Although [spoken in a whisper] i am starting to come round to the fact that selling and investing may be better for THFC

However I try and spin it, having 3 world class players is not the same as having a player in the world's top three, with clear potential to be the best.

Having him at Spurs has been a privilege and I may never get the chance to see the world's best player playing for and captaining Spurs. Just one more season and we might have been able to say that.

Even now the jealousy in Man Utd fans' and Cuty fans' and Arse fans' eyes when GB is mentioned is worth more than £85m

The champion's league music ringing out at the lane and finishing above the Arse will be great. But it could have been more special

And will he be able to work with Ancelotti. GB has already stated how his relationship with AVB has made him what he is today. I would say, and I hope with an unbiased POV, AVB would be a better Manager to work & develop under than Ancelotti

It's certainly interesting information from JJ, suggesting we'll sign three big players and sell Bale. I find it a bit of a stretch to suggest that we'll definitely get these three players at this stage, though. We're talking about three deals for big players at big clubs, where we'll have to agree fees and personal terms for each. That's a lot of work to get done yet. Unless of course we're talking about three R Madrid players as a swap, but I don't really believe swap deals happen often anymore, and it would be a hard sell to get three of their good players to come here for Europa League and £70,000 a week.

Having 3 big name targets is a shit load away from them agreeing to sign for us. I cant believe we are down the line where we have agreed anything with potential swaps or new signings with Bale money.

i would rather splash all that cash bale can recoup by next year ( around50 - 60 AT LEAST) and make a run for the title. if we miss then sell bale. absolutely foolish to sell this season
