Good point, but it would seem that DL just wants rid at any rate. Either that or we're missing something.

Nah not really mate. The precedent is there, he implied with Modric and later clarified with a statement. If he did it then he can do it now too. If he's staying I can't see any circumstances in which saying so would be harmful. I don't think we're actually miles apart on this.

JJ, how many more days do you think we have to put up w/ this Bale saga? Will it be a quick death or will it be slow and painful, dragging on closer to deadline day?

Problem with selling Bale and bringing in lots of new faces - basically rebuilding the team in a single transfer window - is they won't have time to gel before the season starts. We could end up with loads of talent but no "team" for a while.

It'd make absolutely no sense to sell Gylfi right now unless we truly want to dissociate with Barnett.

Gylfi's the type of player that could build value in a hurry. He can fill 2 positions in the 4-3-3 and he has really come on strong in the LF position of late. Ugh, I just don't get this at all. If he has a solid season for us his value could double. Sure, it's been early and some might not view them as good barometers, but Gylfi has been our best player in the first couple of matches.

This has the potential to become a calamity of a window still although at the moment on paper it's really brilliant.

Who'd have thought the window we sign a striker for over £20 million would be the one which we might all be left feeling dejected and underwhelmed.

Bringing in Coentrao and Di Maria only and losing Bale would be shocking. Have to go big on the Bale replacement, at least as a statement of intent (although a real statement would be keeping him)

Also, is the reason this Soldado thing seems to be taking long is that they want ago announce it after Bale leaves for PR purposes, stating something about a "club record transfer" and hope to deflect criticism from fans? Maybe I am just being cynical.

Not overly enthused at the prospect of taking a couple of established stars from Real in return for Bale. I feel that the likes of Di Maria would be understandably reluctant to join us as we don't have CL football. The last thing I want to see at Spurs is players who feel like they're doing a us a favour by signing for Tottenham. I''d much rather we went for the elite young talents, who still have everything to prove, such as Lamela and Morata.

It all just sounds so chaotic again, doesn't it?

Flip I thought we were going to add to the squad, primarily a forward, wide forward and a LB....and shift on the likes of Hudd or Livermore, and Parker etc...possibly Ade or Benny.

Now it just seems like rebuilding again and starting afresh almost. Well not quite...but for the first time in ages I felt we were stable and just need that illustrious quality forward.

Funnily enough I imagined this exact scenario when I heard about Gylfi being a Barnett client earlier today. Spooky.

No idea mate, for all parties i hope its quick then we can all move on.
There is still a part of me that wants it to all completely fall through but things appear too progressed.
safe to say whatever happens you guys wont get the whole story till a lot later.

Caulker went cos he wanted football and seemingly cos Andre wasn't a massive fan, he didn't feature much late on last year after all, 6 matches in 2013.
Sigurdsson may well struggle for game time this year with Chadli and Paulinho & maybe more coming into midfield/ forward roles, so may also want game time, a loan isn't finishing things either.
Adam Smith has got a year's loan, so he stays.

Bale has been tapped up to fuck by Madrid & if they've said they'll only sign him this year and have bid big money, he may want the move OR he'll get a massive pay rise here.

All makes sense, all makes sense from an agent's perspective.

It's an epic window for sure. Got a feeling it's going to define us for years to come.

Hudd: 5 mill
Naughton: 3 mill
BAE: 7 mill
Dempsey: 6 million
Parker: 3 million
Ade: 8 million

Absolute guesstimates but that's £30 million there and none of the prices seem ridiculous? Add that to £9 million for Caulker...

We would of have a lot of money to spend, add in potentially Bale's money and we can seriously do some damage... Even keeping GB we can afford Coentrao (if we are to believe that they owe us for Modrat)

Plus the £50 milllion loan and TV rights.

All this info is frying my brain..

Tl;dr we have enough money to go crazy and challenge for the title and keep Bale.
