Even if a team is 'bedding in' you do not lose like we did today, it's an absolute embarrassment.
Still, at least we had more possession.....

There's only so long that the excuse of 'bedding in' can be used, I just simply don't buy it now and there's more to the problem.

But it's the Premier League after all, no fixture is really easy and certainly not for a new team like ours, so you DO definately have to give the defence credit. We've already played Arse and Chelski and only conceded one each match, but now that the season is well under way and teams are clicking, the defence will be way further tested when we meet Man U, Liverpool, Everton and Southampton, but I don't think we should expect hidings like we got tonight.

You can give them credit, but it should be acknowledged that it hasn't been watertight and we could easily have leaked more goals already (though I agree, nothing on the scale of today).

I watched two teams yesterday on BT sport that played some lovely passing attacking football, certainly looked a lot better coached than we currently do.

Did you actually watch the game?

Lamela did okay today? HE was trying to be positive when there was so much shit around him.

Even when we was 5-0 down he kept trying to do something, even if it didn't come off.

You sir are talking absolute shit. Maybe we should have played Townsend on the right so he can keep cutting in and try killing the small kid in row z with his piss poor decision making and shooting.

Saying Lemela tried to do stuff that didn't come off? Same way Townsend shoots and it doesn't come off. Lamela is no better atm.

For those of us that didn't want this guy from the start and were shouted down on this forum for being negative about AVB, its finally a relief that the 'Emperors New clothes' attitude that so many of our fellow fans had, has finally worn off.

We have one of the best squads in the PL, we play some of the dullest football on show. We do not score goals and are predictable in our style of play.

One of the best players in the world saved our season almost on his own last year but with him gone the manager cannot continue to take the credit.

Get AVB out now and replace him with the man we should never have let go!

The traveling fans best be compensated and refunded for being forced to watch that shite.

You're right. And it's the players who should pay out, just like Wigan did after 9-1 against us. Dawson as the Captain needs to do the right thing and make that move. Are there many examples of this happening before, either the club or the players paying out?

He's lost the dressing room. Period. This cannot go on. Once you lose the players as a manager, you're screwed completely. I've been a real supporter of AVB, but we have been flattering to deceive this season and now, for me anyway, it's got to change now.

I don't give a fuck about the Europa League you fucking clown!
This is the kind of attitude that AVB doesn't want in the club. He wants winners. How can you not care about trying to get into the Europa cup final and winning it? Terrible.

That was Newcastle, this is City former champions. Getting a single goal back isn't going to please people. Ultimately if you're going to tell our manager to fuck off after one game, then I don't think he or any other manager can please you.
Your just on a wind up mission.

You must be, there is no other option for you have written that crap. IT is blatantly obvious now, that something is very very wrong.

A goal against after 13 seconds of play and why? Because we went for possession football, rather than being positive. We spent 100 million in the summer on attacking and creative talent. We should be going for throats not passing back all the time because the entire fucking team has forgotten how to pass forward.

I have seen enough to make my mind up. I was very pro AVB, but this game has just nailed the coffin shut. He is to scared of losing to be able to tell the team to fucking go for it.

Newcastle, former champions, whoever... It makes not a difference as regardless of who we play we are being far to negative and scared.

I really really wanted AVB to make it and do it for us, I wanted him to play his attacking 4-3-3, I just wanted him to bring that free flowing style of football to us, manage and rotate the squad effectively. Take all competitions seriously...

HE has achieved some, but he is so scared of going for it...

Changing tactics will make NO difference at all,you have to be able to gel players into a team with a playing style that they believe in.
AVB CAN'T DO THAT................he couldn't at Chelsea and its plain to see that he can't do it here either.

He did it last season albeit with outstanding personnel *cough* Bale. Chelsea didn't give him time.

Yer one game, sure.......there's loads of managers that would get us to score from open play. Just one goal perhaps.

Whether we are playing former Champions or not you don't manage a team this poorly game in game out and not expect criticism. He's a busted flush, and all but the blind can see that.

If you think that just shuffling the players around is going to do the trick, then look forward to more of the same. AVB has taken a really successful club (by our financial operating standards) and made it very unsuccessful club in a season an a quarter.

Only the delusional among us could argue against the evidence.

I think he's lost the dressing room, but that's just a hunch. I'm basing it on the fact that our players look miserable, unsure of what to do, clearly lacking much enthusiasm or belief, and that I can't remember the last positive comment about AVB from any of our players.

If he hadn't before, he may have today.

That doesn't make sense, his best position is CB but he is capable at LB and is being asked to sacrifice for the team whilst Rose is injured.

For Belgium he plays LB by default despite being better than their other CB options bar Kompany, he doesn't complain. Its another case of sacrificing for the team.

He is a CB though, not a LB; and definately not a WB.

He has no choice of moaning at is position for Belgium, because he can only play for them. Were he to whinge and annoy the manager, he would simply be dropped with no other coice of national team to play for.

At Spurs, he was brought in to play CB, replacing King. That we haven't covered ourselves at LB is not his fault, and feels that he should not be playing there, as he isn't strongest there. He complains because he is supposed to be King's replacement at CB, and if he is not employed there he has other options in terms of club football.

Plus, playing well at CB for us would ony help his chances of playing that position for Belgium.

Basically, Verts, likes us, is not finding it funny that we have no proper cover at LB. He can be cover, but not good cover, especially as we are set up to play WBs.

Just an observation but has anyone else noticed how Steffen Freund does not sit next to AVB anymore? Wondered why over the past number of weeks. On a separate issue, today was abysmal and talk of players gelling in, it will take time etc is a load of nonsense. They have had sufficient time to at least not get turned over like they did today. Something has to give and the signs have been day for the past number of weeks

City did not play well today. Our tactics seem to be keep the ball and hope for a lucky break. With bale we got them. Without we don't.
Our defense has not been good. We have relied on lloris rushing out and clearing our defensive mistakes.
Our attack is stagnant. We get to the final third and then stand still.
I really hoped that avb would improve us. But we seem to get worse every game.
Every team knows to just let us have possession and hit us on the break.
As when teams learned to beat gomes all you had to do was lob it into the box and he'd come flapping, our tactics and style of play has no future.
It's sad but i don't think avb has anything else in his box.

Hope to god i'm wrong.

Just read avb's comments on the game and he talks about needing a reaction to this poor performance. I total agree but that reaction needs to be against utd no point reacting in the fucking Europa league game as that means jack shit right now. We need to see a massive reaction vs united and get a win against them. We have a tough run of fixtures and losing again will be demoralising if today already hasn't demoralised them
