I assumed that Soldado was being rested for the league? :bored:

Do you really think a manager who's tactical acumen seems to be based on the Blackburn Rovers side he played in during the 1994/95 season believes in rest and rotation? Because I don't.

Rubbish. I think it was the correct decision to let him go in the end and I'll definitely be behind giving a new manager plenty of time providing we are seeing some progress on the pitch even if the results could be better.

In the end, if you can get the performances as close as you can to what you're trying to achieve results will take care of themselves in a positive way.

The way we were going with AVB suggested otherwise. There would of been plenty more damage to come in my mind playing the way we were week in week out like that.

You basically confirmed in your opening, that your support won't be unconditional for the new manager even at the beginning.

I don't know what Sherwood's plans are but if he hadn't been forced to make changes, I think we'd have seen Soldado come on arounds 60 mins and then start the next game.

This thread is hliarious. Posters who reguarly called other posters out for knee-jerking are slitting their wrists and making judgements after one game!

Also, we are told to support the manager and the club regardless but I never thought I'd see the day when people would seem to "support" a formation. Its almost like that Little Britain sketch with the vomiting old woman but instead of immigrants, its 4-4-2 that induces it!

We only had 4 shots on target yet West Ham had 8 you could say they created better chances and could have beaten us by more.

C'mon now my man, we watched the game.... "chances" were there,... spooning ball over bar and defoe dragging wide are not considered shots on target,.... but the "chances" were there... :borg:

I will always support the manager and team, always. Doesn't mean I'll be agreeing with what's going on or encouraged, but my support will always remain constant.

Keep on clutching though.

Can expressing an opinion on a web forum even be considered 'opening your mouth'?? odd

So you honestly believe that in the last two days the Club is in a better place and everyone is more confident of the future than they were with AVB in control?

It's what makes this thread so funny, Mr.P. I actually can't believe so many people are in agreement with the opening post.
at least half the people in agreement with the OP were probably calling for AVB's head after the Liverpool game and happy that he was sacked the day before - their sudden outrage is a knee jerk to the West Ham loss and I suspect had we held on to a 1-0 win (without playing any better) at least half those people would be calling for Sherwood to be given the job full time and rejoicing a new era at the club instead of the current doom and gloom post cup exit

The bottom line is Sherwood is unlikely to be our long term manager and Levy is far more likely to be trying to find a new man to be the next saviour for 18months before he repeats the process again

The thing that does worry me is that, if we were going to get rid of a manager who, although laden with limitations, wasn't actually doing terribly (results wise at least), then you'd expect there to be a plan in place with regards to replacing him fairly quickly.

Now obviously it might be the case that we are working hard behind the scenes to bring someone in, but unlike previous managerial appointments it's very unclear that that is the case. If we're just waiting to see how Sherwood gets on then that, for me, is a terrible terrible decision and I suspect it's that concern that has triggered some of the OTT reactions to last night's game.

I can cope with Sherwood pissing about with his 4-4-2 for a couple of games whilst we bring someone else in. But if there isn't really a long term plan in place then I'll be very concerned.

Either way Sherwood is going to be in charge for the SCBC game and I hope he learns his lesson from last night otherwise we'll be in for a hiding against a team that has been very good at keeping the ball this season.

Well, that's the thing isn't it. We don't really know what's going on behind the scenes. It may be that we have someone lined up and we're sorting it out now. It may be that we have nobody lined up and Levy fucked him off anyway. Time will tell I guess.

I agree with this completely

I actually fear that Sherwood has always been a contingency plan stop gap so to speak and could well be given the rest of the season while we wait for other targets to be available

I think because the last few in-season sackings have been done with very little gap to the next appointment (Jol/Ramos, Ramos/Redknapp), it makes me worried that nothing is in place yet. Obviously 3 days isn't a lot, but it is compared to recent form.

We were the most boring spurs team I have ever seen. That's why I am pleased AVB has gone

Obviously too young to remember Graham systematically subbing Ginola after an hour in every game. Santini, with his instructions for the defenders to NEVER EVER cross the halfway line wasn't much better. Six goals in eleven games we managed under him.

Why dont you wait to see who gets the job?

Of course a few hours later things are still up in the air. We havent been beaten by 5 goals since he left.
