Do I hit her over the head with it and then bury her?

Arsenal lost 8-2 not that long time ago and managed to get top 4.

Did they also lose 6-0, 5-0 and drop points at home to West Brom & West Ham that season?

Let's be realistic, we're 5th largely because the teams around us have been inconsistent.

Lennon and Sigurdsson were very poor and I am terrified of Chiriches at centre back, he just isn't a good enough defender for our level. I am stunned we didn't take the money for sigurdsson. Apart from a decent shot, I don't really see what he brings to the side.

He counts as homegrown.

Some good things at times tonight and I can see what tim is trying to do overall and he is onto something, but his achilles heel is player selection (I'm sure someone else who was here had that problem...I'm sure it'll come to me).

Siggy should be nowhere near a starting 11 at any time, ever. #sellasap

Lennon continues to totally disappear in games and is a squad player and should be used strategically and not on default, but he is continually allowed to stay on the field and be totally ineffective. Mad.

We should have gone a solid 4231 in this game and played an intense, dynamic counter-attacking game. We were lucky not to be 0-3 down in the first 20mins and would have been if Negredo was on instead of dzeko.

I don't know about any other team but this team needs solid DMs, tim. We need that option, especially for games like this.

Not looking forward to March at all.

Anyway, royally fucked by a crooked lino tonight. Balls.

I think in order for midfield 3 to work where they are strong shielding players, we need much better wingers.

Touche, But against a city side that were always gonna control the middle of the park against how we lined up, You were always on a hiding for nothing. At least with having a stronger controlling midfield, There was a battle that we could of won. Wingers don't come into the equation, Other teams have played with 3 strong in the middle against city and have faired a whole lot better than we did. The minute you put eriksen at the spearhead of that midfield is the moment it failed.

Sending off or not, they were a different class tonight. Only one team was going to win that match tonight for me and it was quickly apparent. We were competing brilliantly but they seemed to be in 2nd gear for stretches. Their squad has hideously underachieved for a couple of yrs now. With a manager/HC who knows what he's doing in charge now, these are the results of hunnerts of millions spent season after season for about 6 yrs. Insane strength and quality.

We also didn't give a good account of ourselves tonight when things went against us but hey, only one game in a 38 game season. We have a lot of our bastard fixtures already done and have been looking better in the 'should win' games so far under TS. I'm still expecting us to fall short but there's every chance in reality. Just my decades of glorious defeat skewing my outlook.

Agreed

Not one outfield player of ours that started tonight would get in their side.

Yup shit season, unreal that we are 5th after losing our best player!

God I wish some of you were old enough to remember when we were mid table at best. We have just been beaten from the future league champions with 10 men. And screwed out decisions! Get a grip

Calm thinking and sensible answer!!! What the hell are you doing on here!!;);)

To start blaming the ref is clutching at straws. They were totally dominant in the first half an hour. We were lucky to still be in it.

The sending off was harsh but surely questions need to be asked why Dzeko was free goal side of Rose in the first place?

You get what you deserve in football, and the score line reflected the match IMO.

I'm not so sure. We were really poor in the first half hour, they were very good. Bentaleb looked nervous, and Sigurdsson and Lennon didn't contribute enough. We rode out the storm however, just like many teams have done against us when we've been on top.

Then we scored (but it was disallowed) and we started to come at them and actually start passing to players in the same team. We finished the half on top, and looked dangerous from set pieces.

The second half was fairly even (the Dembele sub hurt us, because he'd started to boss them) until Rose was sent off…

That killed the game, and we'll never know what might have happened, had:
1. The ref allowed the goal, and
2. Rose been kept on the pitch.

They were better against 10 men of course, and better in the first half hour against 11, but we were never allowed the fightback because of the sending off…

Let's face it, they are better than us, but that doesn't mean it's impossible for us to get a result against them. The ref, however, made it impossible.

The lack of self-belief in the first 30 minutes was palpable; we had been showing signs of starting to believing that we could compete when Rose, who had actually been one of the few players who looked up for it from the start, got himself sent off.

City are the better team, but the gulf is not as wide as we made it look tonight. If we keep faith with them these players*, and I believe, this manager, will come good.

*okay, maybe not Sigurdsson...
