I simply do not understand this. Was I watching some other game? Man city are one of the best teams in the world. After watching them pin us back for 25 minutes Tim got the guys getting stuck in and kicking them and we should have gone in 1-1. Then we were robbed by a horrendous, bad decision by the same idiot who flagged for offside and then the game was over. A team of city's quality will keep the ball better and until the 4th goal (which was a deflection) we never let our heads drop and kept fighting. The fifth goal also fell kindly for them.

And now Tim is on notice?!?!? Mate this is not Football Manager and I don't think you have spent enough time on a pitch playing the game.
so Tim gets off scott free after a performance like this, but AVB gets lambasted?

City are a class act, but they are the new United in terms of getting diabolical decisions from the officials. They got 2 ridiculous decisions against Liverpool, a diabolical one against Newcastle and 3 more against us tonight. They don't need any help FFS!

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Did they also lose 6-0, 5-0 and drop points at home to West Brom & West Ham that season?

Let's be realistic, we're 5th largely because the teams around us have been inconsistent.
Yes but by the same token, just as you wouldn't expect those other teams to be inconsistent season in, season out, you would hope that we will improve too.

It would be churlish to ignore a major turning point being the red card/penalty but the truth of the matter is we were comprehensively beaten by a more talented, balanced and complete side.

What isn't helping is the naivity of Sherwood which is compromising us from the off but also, the same faces being picked almost regardless of form and I can see with Sherwood being really reluctant to rotate and as such, big names and talented individuals are going to get marginalised and fucked off pretty damn quick!

A strange season unravelling and this isn't going to subside until the summer for me so it's a case of putting in the ground work and selecting the players to take us (hopefully) back to glory - these players don't include Dawson, Lennon, Sigurdsson et al.

He was one of our best players tonight. I don't see why Sherwood was so naive? What would you have done differently? Capoue for Bentaleb or Dembele maybe?

We have needed a LB for a long time since Benny left, if Levy wants us to get in the Champs League we need

Of course Harry should have stayed! Whats happened since he left is proof of that!

Harry is a selfish b@stard, he had the biggest and best job of his career and he couldn't see it, granted we played some good football but Harry was one dimensional, he has never built a team for the future, always chased the buck...

If he had been there when we sold Bale he would have spent all the money on Carrick, Rio, Joe Cole, Lampard, Kanu, Muntari and Diarra. Remember he didn't think Suarez could be a lone striker...

It was right to get rid but we need an experienced, tactically astute manager. There are some good players here but they lack leadership and character in games like this and capitulate. There are also a lot of players who have shown themselves as not being of the necessary quality, Naughton, Rose (although unlucky tonight), Dawson, Chadli, Lennon, I'd even be tempted to throw in Townsend and Soldado when you compare us to the other top 4 in those positions.

I wasn't saying we are. But it is kind of peculiar that we are taking these hammerings and after 23 games we are still - theoretically - in that chase.
Tim's run kept us there abouts, but march will seal our fate imo.

I just don't trust tim to pick the right players for big games.

Ref and Linesman's decisions did not help. We are nowhere near the strong team that City are. I still think that we need another striker and a Left back.

Oh fuck it. We have had a good run and it's come to
An end. But we will pick it up again. I think we will finish 4th.
It's not the end of the world tonight, and there were some
Positives.
A) Rose being sent off means some relief as that shit player misses some games
B) Dembele injured means Capoue can get a run out.
C) with Rose out and naughton obviously useless we may get a LB.
D) our injured players are almost back- kaboul vertongen paulinho are top quality.

We will get 4th !

Bentaleb btw....talented player but he needs to be brought in slowly. Should never of started tonight.
totally agree, however i looked at it from a different perspective, it wasn't the player that messed up, it was the tactics. Bentaleb was included for his ball retention but we should have had capoue with dembele making up a three man midfield.

we didn't have 4 regulars playing today....if fit sandro, paulihino, vert, kaboul would have started.

if city didn't have Yaya, kompany, fenaldihino playing against a spurs side that was full strength it would have been a different outcome.
