It's from a source with a good track record who's certain that Poch met Levy today. I'd say that "it went really well" is slightly more salt-worthy as its a bit more opinion based as who knows what Levy is thinking.

Ha! I expect Pochettino thinks he's got the job, whether Levy does is another matter.

I'm good with Poch. He's like the ideal hybrid of Sherwood & Villas Boas.

He plays football in a similar style to Villas Boas with a similar domination of possession and chances, seriously go and check Southampton's underlying stats at home & then start thinking Fortress White Hart Lane, but he resembles Sherwood insofar as he's interested in all levels of the club, and uses youth.

He has done well at Southampton, he's improved players drastically & ok, Saints transfer record is mixed; but that's fine cos he'll never get near a chequebook here.

Come on lads, get on board the Poch train :)

I honestly think this is a very good appointment by Levy. Who else is there available? De Boer? Is he really better than Poch? I don't think so, in fact he is more of a jump into the unknown that Poch would be; we have seen what Poch can do in the prem and how he has developed decent players into very good, maybe even great players.

Id be delighted with this appointment.

Not sure Poch could handle egos. He's got some honest players at Saints who don't fancy themselves - and those who do want to leave. Going to Spurs he'll be buying a different class of player. How we he handle them? We don't know. I feel it might be to big a step.

Short term (18 months) I'd go for Benitez. We'd have a spine, be cohesive, his name will attract the kind of quality we're looking for, but the footy will be pragmatic, hence only a short-term, back-on track, appointment.

Of all the signings made last year the player who is the biggest disappointment has got to be Soldado. Even more than Lamela because he was given the chance. Soldado is just simply too slow. In the prem you need a player who has speed enough to get half a yard when the ball is played down the channel.

I was thinking about that earlier. I see people wanting us to buy Shaw, Lovren, Clyne, Schneiderlin, Ward-Prowse, Lallana or Rodriguez + their manager. And yet they finished 8th.

Exactly..I have said it before....5 or 6 of their players would walk into our first team and another 5 or 6 would be in our squad.
Pochettina is no messiah.

Well, that's complete bollocks.

Insofar as how they play as a collective it isn't. I'd say just about every single one of them has improved and flourished under his coaching and the way they play as a collective unit. That enhances individual performance.

You only have to look at how we've used Paulinho, for example, to get the point that coaching and how you use players is essential to how they perform and improve as players.

what a well rounded, thoughtful, counter argument! Points well made with a concise beginning, middle and conclusion.

Scathing sarcasm. You really got me. The fact you agreed with that nonsense says it all. Those players are only at that level because of Potchetino - how can you possibly assert that? Were they bumbling, clumsy no-hopers before he came in and sprinkled fairy dust on them?

Next time, please spare me the bollocks - especially after agreeing with a fucking dumb statement.

I look at the squad of players at Southampton and then I look at where they finished in the league.............he hasn't done that great a job.......they finished where I would expect them to.
I think going for Pochettina is a mistake.
He had to deal with a massive injury crisis in the middle of the season so...

Lets not forget Poch also speaks English but chooses not to in front of the press.................that won't happen here.
Who knows what could come out of his mouth in the future..................he might talk more bullshit than Sherwood.
Some people here might not like that.

The issue I have is with the 'only' part of the post. They are not only that level because of him - they can take some credit themselves for having the talent/potential.

calm down darling. only? no. but you don't need to take everything so literally. They weren't no-hopers, but they are playing above themselves for a manager they seem to want to play for... traits or qualities - even an outcome if you like - that would suit Spurs very nicely.

And there's no need to swear dude; or wave your willy.
