Well Rafa has as many questions about him as well, different ones but when you take over stronger teams the expectations are higher. He took over Valencia at a time when they were close challengers iirc they finished 3rd the season before he arrived and in those days it wasn't just Real and Barca, Depor were quite a strong team and won La Liga and also made runners up at the time. He did win La Liga twice and on the back of the success he got the Liverpool job but after early succes you have to ask the question why the decline and why so many poor transfers deals, then considering the Inter team he inherited did he achieve enough, same at Chelsea?
He just won the Italian Cup but they are down a place in Serie A
So there are questions about lack of success on the one hand and also sufficient success given the teams in others
I know it's not easy deciding on managers especially when arguably the best ones have better choices, but simply adding someone to a list that really hasn't achieved anything on the basis that well Rodgers hadn't achieved anything before but got Liverpool to runners up this season so another person might repeat that at another club seems more wing and a prayer than anything else even allowing we won't entice the best options and have to trawl a little deeper
Agree, not easy at all, especially for the one who has to make the decision for real. I just look at who we can realistically get, and think Rafa has the less risk. Sure I didn't think he handled the last couple years at Liverpool well, but if memory serves, that's when the two clowns Hicks and Gillette tok over, so who knows what happened behind the scenes. If this was us contemplating hiring him right after that, then I would not want him. Inter was a poisoned chalice. I don't think it was a coincidence that Jose left right after winning the CL. What he did at Chelsea brought out the best in him, and I'd take a few years of top 4 and a cup or two for a few years, as we push on to challenge for a title.
Just out if curiosity, since you don't seem to want Rafa or Pochettino, who would you like to see get the job?
