Apologies if i'm repeating old news but SC Freiburg has just announced their new signing Germany U-19 CB Marc-Oliver Kempf. Ginter sold?

Ginter is considered fairly nailed on to join BVB as far as I'm aware - especially if Hummels leaves. I don't doubt an interest from us but probably have to know we're nowhere near favourites for his signature.

So Poch is "happy with what we have from an attacking point of view"...Soldado, Adebayor, Lennon, Townsend, Eriksen, Chadli- its not really Nasri, Aguero, Silva, Dzeko, Navas, Negredo is it? It is an attack that could achieve a top half finish but not a top four one.
No thats not really a top 4 one what you have there. But add in Lamela, and things look ALOT different and vastly better(y)

im staggered at those writing off soldado after one poor season. Im even more staggered at those suggesting we need a full overhaul of the club.

1) Soldado gets a couple of goals in his first few starts for us - could easily score 15 - 20 goals next seaon. confidence. And now acclimatised to EPL
2) Lamela - New player alert.
3) Erikson - had his adjusting season and will only get better.
4) Capoue - new manager fresh start
5) Sandro - time to recover from his serious knee injury. full preseason
6) Harry Kane - proved at the end of the season he can score goals in the prem - expecting big things this season
7) Kaboul - full pre season - hopfully will remain injury free and get back to his monstoring best
8) Poch - more entrtaining football getting the fans back onside and creating an atmosphere at the lane not seen since Redknapp left

If even half of these fall in to place we can expect a completley different season to last season. I cant believe that people cannot see last season as transitional and look forward to the new season. We need a LB and a CB. I dont think we need a midfielder. i think we could do with a new winger but not essential. We have a great squad. sprinkle that with some of our youth and things are looking bright.

Yeah, so are Burnley.

Are we aspiring to compete with Burnley to stay out of the bottom three or compete with the clubs at the top?
Not that that is easy with their vast resources but we were pretty much doing that up to last season and i would like us to try and do so again. Is that to much to ask?

Does Soldado automically acclimatise after exactly one year? So on the 31st of July he is wandering around like a rabbit in the headlights, but come the strike of midnight he's banging them in like Pele with a cockney twang?!

City are a ridiculous comparison. As long as they're funded the way they are we'll never be in true competition with them - no matter how much we 'aspire' to.

And yes it is too much to ask. We're doing well enough to be sniffing around fourth place.

Lets not forget, they caned us 11-1 on aggregate last season.

Indeed we aren't, but to be fair it's way behind Arse, Chelsea, Liverpool and Utd too.

I hope Poch is some sort of messiah because in terms of flair, creativity and attacking depth, our current squad is not up to it, even if Lamela has a good season. I don't expect superstar signings but only strengthening in defence and a holding midfielder leaves me feeling pretty flat for the season ahead.

Given that they all have far more money than we do, is this a surprise?

No, not at all and I don't expect to be able to directly compete with them. But I don't think a couple of smart additions of the right type of attacking player is beyond us.

How's that relevant? Some acclimatise, some don't. Some take a year, some take two years. Aguero hit the ground running. You can't make comparisons.
it is very relevant. The best ever striker in the premier league era took a couple of season to fully acclimatise. those writing off a spanish international striker with a very good goals to game ratio after one poor season are quite frankly fucking idiots.

I think there is a psychological water line on a new season, fresh start. Lets be fair Soldado started out full of confidence, working hard, making a lot of intelligent runs in and around the box and hardly ever got a pass, by the time he ever got a pass his confidence was shot to bits.

New manager, new season, maybe a couple of new signings to improve the service, a couple of other new players from last season finally finding their feet and things look totally different.

We know he can score goals, he's regularly been in the La Liga top scorers, so no reason not to feel confident he can start to shine
