This.

Henry
Drogba
Modric

None of them had the best of first seasons, yet went on to be half decent players

Modric isn't a striker, Drogba scored 10 in 26 appearances, which was a sight better than Soldado managed (he was also out for a couple of months with an injury), and Henry banged in 18 in the league alone.

I'm really not crazy about Davies, I haven't been from the first rumours and I'm still not. I have that same itch on my back as I had about those Benteke-rumours. I believe the only "right" signings for that LB-spot are abroad (because so few good LB's in PL are viable options).
If we look at stats per 90. minutes, Davies is best at nothing. Save perhaps passing a few more balls forward. Rose, as already stated, does more interceptions, more blocks, more successful take ons and more completed tackles. Blind is far better at interceptions and creating chances (yes I know he plays in the "far lesser" league Eredivisie).
I love to be proven wrong, though. Love it.

You're allowing stats to be your guide as to whether a player is any good? You should look at Modric's stats for us. His goals & assist stats were sheit, so thank fuck we got rid of him :p

Blind is awful, i would rather keep Rose than sign him

Of course we all want those big name, fancy signings-especially with what's happening elsewhere; but the refreshing thing about news like this is it sounds as if we have a long term plan under a manager-and an understanding that that success doesn't happen overnight, so we are willing to build something. I hope the majority of fans can share this ideology.

I hope players like Hugo and Jan can also share this ideology as well but there's a difference between building something long term and playing in champions league and winning trophies. I would like to build something long term and I think Levy does too which is what the appointments of AVB and Poch seem to indicate that's the plan, our transfer policy this summer and the return of Bloomfield May will support this long term plan.

Stats were brought up in an earlier post, I was simply going off of that. Fair?
By the way, Davies was also dribbled past the most amount of times of all defenders in PL.

Just suggesting to keep him at Saints until he's fit. By the way, we did have ITK this past season of Daniel calling in Barca's team to evaluate our medical team(y)

Btw Barca never was asked to come evaulate our medical team :)

Good news on Davies too :)

I definitely think we need a new commanding centre back. One with a bit of pace who can organise a defence properly. Its not quite as important as signing a left back but its not far off.

I must say, has there ever been a better whore than @dovahkiin? Gets the job done w/ class, but enough of an edge that you don't want to marry. Strictly business and pleasure. No eye contact. In and out. No cuddling. Thanks for everything.

Bloody love that ITK! Glad we're close to Jamal and Davies; I think they both have great potential!
We seem to be focusing on the right areas (including LWF) and we have a plan going forward. Great!
Jan likely to sign New deal is fantastic news!
And I love that we're going after 2/3 young kids too!

Fella, you'll never engage me when it comes to conversation about stats. WHY was he dribbled past out of all defenders in the PL? Because he's shit? Because there was little to no protection from players in front of him? The stats don't answer either of those questions, so that's why I'm not interested in them. It's nothing personal fella, stats just don't prove anything. Soldado's stats were (apparently) shit last season, goals per game especially. However, how many of those penalties of his resulted in maximum points for our club?

See my point? People write off Soldado's PL goals, due to most of them coming from the spot. Well those goals from the penalty spot were bloody important when it came to points on the board.

My post with stats came due to a previous post about stats. That post was more in favour of Davies. So with your stance on stats, I take it you would dismiss them also when they are in support of your views? See my point?
