I know the Prem experience line is over used a lot, but it can only help with regards to Davies coming in and hopefully slotting in straight away to good affect.

Not into reading the players stats etc.. The game is played on the pitch not on paper. There are to many variables that happen in a game to depend on a stat.

Back to the thread: For me Davies will turn out to be a great signing at 10mil. I know nothing about the young CB linked. Can someone please enlighten me on him.

Bring on Saturday anyway I cannot wait to watch the first game of the new era

Statistics are like bikinis, they show a lot but cover the most important parts. Never trust them.

See - i like to think i'm clued up on alot of players. But for the past two/three years we've been linked with this Lascelles fella i'd always assumed he was a French kid who moved early to England to join a youth set up over here.

He's from bl00dy Derby!!!! :ROFLMAO:

I don't have a massive problem with it, although we were told that the stadium would not effect the transfer spend, which has turned out to be not true.

Then there was a financial crash. Then after that we were told that the stadium was financially unviable. Then the 106's were dropped making it viable]. How has this all effected our transfer budget? We don't know as we didn't know what our transfer budget was to begin with.

If the ITK is right does look very much like another window will go by without any net spend though.

If Pochettino is happy with that then that's fine. Maybe next window it will allow him to identify one or two luxury buys once he's more familiar with the squad. There's no point in spending £25m on a LW if Poch thinks Chadli or Eriksen or Townend is going to the job there but there might be if he gets to January and finds out he does want a LWer.

If the little bald guy upstairs can continue to sell at least 25% above players value and buy 25% lower than the players value then I for one am happy with no net spend. Oh and a nice big stadium in a couple of years with no real debt on it. COYS!!

As far as stats go I've got a good one. Nineteen players have won the major championships since Tiger Woods last won one! Do people think that all nineteen of them are better than him?
Me neither, I usually judge a good playe by watching him.
Two young British defenders with bags of potential and not the usual suspects sounds good to me, sounds like a man with a plan.

Blind is awful, i would rather keep Rose than sign him

Blind is not a jeffin left back.......yes he can play there and has done in his youth but is a DM first and foremost now. He plays LB as Verts plays LB because he is talented and has a left foot. He is not "awful" as being player of the year (x2) for Ajax and dutch player of the year last season proves. The WC is not a reflection on how or where he plays so move on.

As a LB no we don't want him but not because hes awful, because hes not a LB!

So we sold Livermore for 8mil and Hudd for 6mil both were not first team starters at all. We then (potentially) are buying Davies for 10mil who will be a first team starter. So we have improved our team by making money!! this to me is genius

How so ? Under Levy we have almost always been spend neutral except when we were struggling with potential relegation even then we gradually clawed back the net spend over the subsequent transfer windows. So as I see it we have honored our promise not to let the stadium affect our transfer spend. If we spend more than we make on transfers it has to be made up somehow unless we are called Chelsea or Man City.

If we were buying him it would be as a LB, we don't need a DM, he was sent to DM because he was so hopeless as a LB, so on that basis i dont want him

Happy with Davies as it will be an improvement on what we already have. It looks like we are addressing the areas we need to so im fine with that. Looking forward to see what Poch can do with our players. Lowered my hopes from last season so hopefully I can enjoy it this year and we can serve up some better football

Come on, It's my Birthday-one of the following will suffice;

Vertonghen signs a new deal.
A nice shiny, new, exciting first team signing.
Jack Wilshere gets photographed with an 'unknown' white powder all over his nose.
I live in NYC, have access to an 'unknown' white powder, and Arsenal is playing here in a few weeks. Tell me where Wilshere's going out and I'll see what i can do...
