There's also a reason why Schneiderlin is next on Arsenal's target list after Sammy. They'd prefer the latter but the former isn't far behind.

An excellent player.

He hasn't yet for us

He's had an odd season for us though, injured through most of it and obviously didn't get on with Tim.

If you watch his performances for both Toulouse and France you'll see that he is a clever player, can pick a pass, and doesn't dither with the ball. Premier League tempo is different, but I think he's a good player that could do very well for us.

He suits Arsenal's philosophy and style, in that he moves the ball quickly and has a high work rate. It's exactly what they need, which is why I'd really hate to see him go there. I do think he'll be a starter. He may not be as big a name as some of their other players but he's the best tackler they'd have in that midfield. Arteta, despite being captain (something I think he's poor at anyway), shouldn't be in that role. Schneiderlin will take his place.

You are focusing too much on the positions. Southampton played this with Steven Davis as an 8 in that position with Lallana as a 10 even though he was on the wings.

It's fluid so the numbers become almost irrelevant.

I'll rephrase it then. No team with Paulinho in it is perfect for us.

Yeah agree. Hopefully he'll be coming here though!

We have spent something like £95m in recent Windows on attacking players (Eriksen, Lamela, Soldado, Ade, Paulinho) not to mention players like Townsend coming through so surely the priority is to build a team that allows them to do the job they were bought for?

Someone the other day posted a line up like this;

Ade

Eriksen Paulinho Lamela

Capoue Schneiderlin

IMO this is perfect for us.
Only a few years ago it was;

Ade
Van der vaart
Bale, Sandro, Modric, Lennon

Yeah, I'd be very happy with him. Not a massive name, but someone our current manager knows well and is already settled in this league. Whenever I've watched him he's played very well and looks to take games by the scruff of the neck. We need players to move that ball quicker in the middle of the pitch which is something he does.

I respectfully disagree. I reckon he could easily get double figures for us next season in a team like that, which would he useful IMO.

Couldn't agree more, exactly my thoughts to.

Ive heard people saying similar on here before but from what ive seen in a spurs shirt his passing has genrally been poor and has been slow moving the ball. If he stays he needs a run of games to show what he can do because like you say he didnt really get that last season

from your comments I can only assume that you've only seen Capoue in a Spurs shirt. He started well, then got injured and then got sidelined by Sherwood. He's actually a very good all round midfielder.

We don't need Schneiderlin. We have Sandro & Capoue. Sandro is one of the best defensive midfielders in the League. He loves Spurs & is a fan-favourite. Surely a left-sided attacker is a greater priority? Sandro represents character & capability. The Club should hang on to its best players.

If Levy needs to raise cash there are others that could be sold...
When he's healthy. And unfortunately he rarely is. I love Sandro but if we replace him with Schneiderlin with a minimal difference between the fees I won't be too upset.

But its looking like he may go to arsenal so we will have to look elsewhere now.

it seems we must have a lot of avid toulouse followers on sc.

I certainly used to watch them a lot mainly just to watch Capoue and Sissoko, they gave a pretty indifferent team a very competitive edge and were a well balanced midfield pairing.
I imagine a number of people may watch French games at times because a number of the playing times are at a variance to the PL and La Liga. There are a times and overlap but at least you can watch at least a half a game
Mind you I do tend to watch more La Liga games than PL games and probably watch more French League games if you take us out of the equation

The French League is actually pretty good football to watch, although I recently switched to watching more Eredivisie and Bundesliga when I get the chance. We live in an almost Golden Age where there's probably some football game being streamed at almost every moment for when you have nothing better to do than watch two teams that you may not know a damn thing about.
