We don't need two CBs - we need only one if Dawson goes. But the one we get has to be to the level of Jan (on his happy days) or higher. It's quality we need not more bodies.

If Dawson goes we're left with Vertonghen, Kaboul and Chiriches. Another two just seems OTT. One more is sufficient - but let's make them an absolutely quality purchase.

If an injury crisis occours then let's use our youth players!!!!!
It looks like (unfortunately), Vlad might be leaving though...

I'm trying to be positive about the coming season, I really am, but the current ITK and transfer activity leaves me completely underwhelmed.

Poch better be the messiah we are hoping for because it looks like we're basically going to start the season with Davies instead of Rose and Schneirderlein instead of Sandro. Hardly striking fear into any of our rivals.

Can see us scratching around in Jan again unsuccessfully for a striker when Ade goes to the ACN.

Better pray hard that Ade and Eriksen stay injury free or it's going to be a long season imo.

I don't think we give Poch big money to spend until the committee have seen what he can do and that will be at least one season.

Well yeah there is that. But i can't see why Poch wouldn't like him - he can play from the back. The only negative is that he is vulnerable against big bulky strikers in the air (or Maiga of West Ham o_O)

Maybe not everyone....but successful people tend to take note when they are being told they are doing something wrong.

I may not be terribly successful but when i had a VP tell me that "you should work on my interpersonal skills" my first thought was "why should i listen to that fucking bellend?" and continued on my way....

When the 8th person told me "you should work on your interpersonal skills"....i tried to take note and work on my interpersonal skills because while most of them were fucking bellends not all of them were fucking bellends.

I would hope a professional footballer who wants to get better would take note when numerous people are telling him he needs to work on aspects of his job because while the majority of the people saying it may be twats....not all of them will be and they will be offering advice for him to get better.

I see you decided to channel all those negative skills into calling out players on here instead then!

The problem will be finding that CB who essentially will be the best at the club. Don't think we've had very much ITK on CB's and certainly none that make me content. Can barely think of a player currently in England who fills the role and is available.

Original ITK way back, from JJ I believe, very strongly mentioned that we would add lacking character to the playing staff and that it had noticeably been missing. Leadership, determination, motivator etc. As it is we are probably letting Sandro and Daws go (this isnt a comment on ability), and added a young defender with the rest of the names linked also quite young and not noted for being leaders/winning...

There is definitely a mental and character balance that has to be struck before the season starts imo....

There's been a lot of chatter about Lovren. Not sure where it stands currently though

Yeah aside from Lovren (who i don't really want at £20m) there's been no other names mentioned who seem to fit the bill as a 'ready now' signing.

Moreno (Mexico) was one but he broke his leg at the World Cup

Wildly optimistic mate

Vlad has back problems, Kaboul is a long way from being the player he was before he was injured, hope it is ring rust but doubtful, we are left with Jan and 2 crocks if Dawson goes so we need 2 CB's yes

Funnily enough i'll have a lot more admiration for Daws if he does decide to go.

He might be personally reluctant to leave but he's doing what is best for the club here. Respect to him for accepting that he needs to move on.

If we were to get rid of Dawson and Rose, would Roja be a sensible choice? Quality young Argentinian player who can come straight into the first team and is very good at covering left back. I know we've been linked in the past and that he was having to the end of this month to make a decision on his future.

Touché

To be honest, i think we should keep Danny around if we can. I don't think he was as bad as he is sometimes painted, i just didn't see him get any better over the course of the season. He seemed stuck on a plateau of medicority (In his defence a fair few players did as well last season)....

To me Danny is a kid who had a good loan and came back and was handed a role rather than having to fight for it. He never truly had to worry about losing his role because we had no other options, last season he was given "coaching" from 2 managers and either a) it wasn't effective or b) he didn't listen but we had no other true choice than to stick with him so he didn't have to experience a negative consequence.

I personally think that if Danny was pushed to compete with Davies it would probably result in both of them improving....but if Danny wants to pout because he feels entitled to a starting role after a mediocre season where he showed no improvement i can understand the club moving him on.

Marcos Rojo I assume? Again, you need to get rid of other players too before it's even possible. There is simply no more room for foreign players atm. Look out for ITK on players leaving before you invest too much faith in players coming.
