Yesterday, Ari Gold on SO also hinted that we'd accept bids for Dawson & Chiriches but it seemed framed as opinion, so I left it there, but the smoke around the Chiriches fire is becoming dense.

Vlad was so happy when he came! :(

Of course, and it;s also possible that he played well in games and contributed to good teams performances without clocking up goals or assists.

I've only seen him play a handful of whole games, but I've liked what I saw just about every time. He's not top of the game but he's a lively, clever little attacker with good movement who gets into good positions and creates stuff for others. Look how much better France looked with him in the side instead of Remy. He's played well enough in more than 30% of the games I've seen.
Absolutely agree and he has always looked good when I have seen him play too, but I haven't seen him often and you would hope that the club have, so maybe they are right (assuming that JJ's comment was what the clubs thinks and not just his own opinion).

And he's saying Dawson will also go.

Barmy to sell Vlad IMO. I reckon we'll sign one younger CB and one more experienced, quality CB. Well, I bloody hope we do otherwise we're fucked.

He also says we're in talks for Schneiderlin but that's nothing groundbreaking...
If it is Daws & Vlad out and Vlaar and Lascelles in, it seems a step backwards to me.

So dumb to sell Chiriches at this point. One solid year here and he'd be worth double what we could get now. The signs were there that he could be a really effective ball-playing CB in the Premier League. Selling him now is just weird and seems totally against what Levy would normally do.

We'd be mad to sell Chiriches with Kaboul perma-crocked, Dawson struggling with the high line and Verts' suitcase packed for Barca.

At this rate we'll have to buy 4 new senior CBs in the next 5 weeks!

im actually all for selling chriches *if* we can get a decent price for him. he suffered defensive lapses in almost every game I saw him play. as fans we are suckers for defensive players that are good going forward/good at playing the ball, and seem to ignore it when said players make defensive mistakes.

if we sell him + dawson and get 2 solid center backs that Poch deems appropriate for his style of play, i'll be very happy.

my money is on Lovren and Dier

If we'd sell Vlad and Dawson we must be in the market for an absolute top notch CB, ie not far off world class level to partner Jan.

Obviously an up and coming one would be purchased to.

Silly to sell Vlad considering Dawson will soon be out the door and Kaboul is being held together by a thread. Maybe we're concerned Vlad keeps picking up back injuries? Let's hope we have 2-3 defenders lined up. Didn't we have some ITK mentioning 2-3 more defensive players to arrive.

I am tending to agree here. Vlad's got a lot of talent, and had some good games last season - Old Trafford being one. But if I'm a coach, I look at him, and think there's always going to be a mistake there, because of the way he instinctively plays.

Also we don't know if he has settled at the club off the pitch, that may have some bearing as to why Poch may be happy to sell.

Once we sell Dawson, the back injuries should clear up. It's hard work carrying Daws the whole game.

I wouldn't be so concerned if I actually had faith that we could tie up deals with 2 defenders that could actually improve our defense. I could see one, but imagining two new players is hard at this point. And, I'd be pretty disappointed if we sold Dawson and Chiriches (more so Vlad) and just brought in guys like Vlaar and Lascelles as their replacement.

I wonder if we are going to sign Schneirderlin and convert Capoue into a centre back; he reminds me a bit of Rio Ferdinand and he has the awareness to play that role I feel.

Vlad having a price I really hope is the same that every player has a price. Needing two first choice CBs is getting to the transfer carousel nonsense that is a utterly ridiculous philosophy.

With Sandro possibly being sold and Schneiderlin doing well in a more free role, I'd imagine Capoue would become our #1 choice for the DM spot. And, in addition to that, Capoue is a DM and a really good one.

If we're going to try to upgrade the position of huge need, we can't rely on Verts, Kaboul (Injuries), Veljkovic/Fryers (Green) and Capoue (Position transition). That'd be a recipe for disaster.

i totally forgot that Capoue can play CB.... isn't that a big reason of why we bought him?
