Ok so just spoke to Baldini, he said that one of the people he was with was Jay Rodriguez agent, he said it was just a chat and they are trying hard for both him and schneiderlin but it's difficult because sometimes clubs don't want to sell and it makes fans angry and it takes time to put everything in place, but wait and see

Didn't I predict that leak last night was bad news ? Never good when shit comes out before it's close to happening. On the optimistic side of the coin, I'm pretty sure we made similar claims regarding Gareth Bale last summer, however we caved. Sadly for the parallel, only once Real Madrid stumped up a ridiculous fee, not something I can see us doing with Southampton!

Yep all a big positive PR stunt from Southampton, get their PA to release some news that 2 other players are close to being sold, before the chairman comes out a day later to say that they're not leaving in hope to get some fans back onside. It fits in with JJ and Stobart saying that we're interested but not close. I hope I'm wrong, but think the doors are firmly shut at the exit doors in Southampton and they won't allow anymore outgoings.

Its one of two things:

1) A PR stunt by Southampton. They use their PA reporter, Peach, to release the news knowing it will spread like wildfire - let it linger for 24 hours and then go on live to Sky and show and act of defiance to lift the mood.

2) they're covering themselves with a public statement so when the transfer requests come they've been seen to be trying to hold on to them and this will at least deflect some blame in the direction of the players.

I think that people need to remember that the articles claiming that Schniederlin & Rodriguez were 'close' to a move to Spurs came from Press Association Sport & not Ronnie & Reggy..

Press Association Sport are reliable & are fed up to date, accurate information. Our ITK's were also ALL claiming that the wheels were well & truly in motion (THFC & SFC). Schniederlin has been seen moving, spoken to people that he's coming to North London today.

Something significant has obviously happened at Southampton in the last 24hrs, or the chairman is going to look very, very stupid..
