Good news. Stepped up when he got his chance at the end of last season, and I'm looking forward to seeing how he progresses.

Really pleased for Kane, if he can improve his finishing, then there is no reason why he can't have a prolific season in front of goal.

Always good to see a youngster that the club has developed in and around the first team.

I actually think he's quite similar to Lambert.

Yup, big lump with surprisingly quick feet and a very powerful shot. If he can get as good in the air as Lambert and as strong as Lambert then we have a great player for years to come, regardless of pace.

Also seems to have a bit of a footballing brain about him and as Sheringham showed, If you have a footballing brain it can more than make up for any lack of pace.

I honestly don't believe he'll ever set the footballing world ablaze, and I don't think he's regular material for a top 4-6 side, but I do think he's good enough for a squad place and to see some game time and I would much rather see us give that to someone like Kane who we have developed, than pay 8m + 3m pa wages to some average journeyman.

Spot on. Poch must see something in him to be happy for the club to keep him on. I'm happy for the lad.

I wonder if this is one of those new contracts that occur before a player gets loaned out. I'm ok with him being 3rd choice CF, but I wonder if Poch & Spurs think a loan to a PL club where he'll play far more will be better for him and us in long term. Also in terms of squad numbers u could bring in say Remy who'd fill two spots in one (LWF & 3rd choice CF).

If this were the case the announcement would usually be simultaneous.

Kane performed better behind the striker than as the striker in pre-season. I also recall him doing well a few times as sub in the LWF under AVB, so maybe Kane could fill 3 positions (LWF, AMC & CF).

This is a weird player for me: never as good as he looks like he could be, yet miles better than I ever thought he would be.

If he continues to improve and take his chances I can see him getting an England call-up within a couple of years. He is quickly becoming a very solid squad player for us which is fantastic.

I can't remember watching a footballer who spends so much time on the floor

He does seem a bit like bambi. Just learning to use his strength I guess, all part of development. Once he toughens up he won't be so easy to knock down.

Not sure why but I really think he is going to be huge for us.

Yes, he may well get bloodied in the England senior team, particularly as he is still eligible for Ireland, and O'Neil is keeping a watch.
