Great signing for me.
A big unit as a stopper to match Verts silkiness as sweeper is ideal.

Our biggest weakness last season was having to field Fryers, Dawson, and Naughton together due to injuries.
Now if Rose, Kaboul, and Walker can't play it's Davies, Fazio, and Dier who are also actually going to challenge for those positions as opposed to just making up the numbers.
We might not grab too many headlines with our purchases this Summer but Poch is actually addressing the weaknesses in the squad in an area where I expect him to know what he is doing.

I think our 'under the radar' business may see a much more consistent season and significantly reduce our goals conceded which was the worst of the top 8 least year.

No, Dawson, the player who just left.

So he was bought to replace Daws who was 3rd or even 4th choice now? Hope he's happy to sit on the bench.....;)

Honest question - do you still want Kaboul and Verts as our first choice pairing then? Which one of these two guys will be happy to sit out? I suggest neither tbh.

It's a long season with many games, so none of them will be warming the bench too much.

Can't see how anyone dislikes this transfer as it's incredibly low risk considering the price.

At 8 million and considering his skill level at worst I think he's an upgrade on Dawson as a backup CB. At best he's our new starting RCB and could lock that position down for years to come.

I wouldn't at all be surprised if either in January or next summer we re-ignite some interest in another CB like Musacchio or Moreno.

Replacing Dawson with fazio doesn't mean he is 3rd or 4th, he could be first choice and Kaboul, vertonghen, vlad and dier have all been pushed back in the order.

Stronger all round (y)

If the posters who froth at the gash whenever anyone even suggests the possibility that a hypothetical 'first XI' may exist in a manager's head if everyone was fit and available for a given game ("THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A FIRST XI, IT'S A FUCKING SQUAD GAME THESE DAYS!!!one!:banghead::mad::banghead:") could please just restrain themselves for a few seconds, do the rest of us think that Fazio is likely to be starting ahead of Kaboul in most matches and/or big matches?

Delighted to see how advanced his English is considering he's been in Argentina and Spain his whole life. Really happy with this signing. Welcome Federico.

Maybe if you care to embolden that it would appear even more like shouting! :);)

Froth? Well do you actually think Kaboul will start ahead of Fazio? Just curious.

This has to be a positive signing by Poch, the lad has played almost 150 times for Sevilla and at 27 is a bargain at 8 Mil. Just hope he can stay fit.
