Sandro done:(

Thanks Daniel. Broken heart. Very disillusioned with the club right now. We got worse in attack. Siggy and Holtby would have fit this system better than Lennon and Townsend yet we keep them when they provide absolutely nothing to the side. We marginally improved the defense. Thats it. Lost our best DM too. Very disheartening.

Umm do you not think Poch has a say in all this?

My god the Levy bashing twats in this thread are winding me up. But I can't leave as I don't want to miss any last minute developments. :-(

Welbeck would've been ok but we can't compete with Arsenal in terms of Euro footy or wages....

Not fussed by either Sig or Holtby going as both were squad players and not good enough - Lamela is back in the frame and the new guy replaces Sandro (if he goes). We've got 3 new defenders and only flogged one (thus far) and we've kept hold of Verts and Hugo....

£27m for MS was way too much so not surprised he hasn't come....

Who else did people seriously think was realistic that they wanted?

JRod is injured. Ben Arfa? I mean seriously that's just needy bollocks...
Come tomorrow, that's probably the rhetoric I'll go with.

Post more mate. (y)

But that makes no sense. Squad size is determined by regs like all the other teams but its the quality of the squad that counts. Upgrading inefficient players was needed and there is no excuse for that not to have been done. I still think there is something to be done.

Poch wanting a smaller squad to work with makes perfect sense

And if Poch can do what he did at Southampton with the likes of Townsend, Lennon and Soldado then we could still have a very good season.

think a few managers have said that they prefer even smaller squads than what the regulations let you have.

Poch must be the same and wants a more compact team to work with.

I think it's difficult to assess the window without knowing how good Fazio and Stambouli are. Imagine for one moment that Fazio performs at a similar level to Verts when he first arrived, and that Stambouli starts to pull the strings in midfield. How short are we then in terms of the squad? Maybe still weak at LWF, but other than that we have good cover everywhere.

Unfortunately, there are obviously no guarantees with these two players, meaning that we could well be a few short on having a good squad.

No big player losses this window. First one in a while.
Got a Lamela getting better, got quite alot of unused potential from the others we bought last year. Got a young squad. Got a chairman not squandering our money;). Got a new manager, that is supposed to improve players.

Never seen som many looking at the glas as half empty in one site before.

Bar Hugo we don't have a player who we'd miss. Bang average.

Are we? Really?

1. We've got Adebayor, who is frustrating, but a very good striker. He will get us goals and can play on his own up front.
2. Soldado. Massive signing last year, who needs a chance in this league. We spent over £20m on him and most of us were over the moon when we signed him last year. To write him off after one poor season is madness - plenty of strikers have had a difficult start in the prem and gone on to do fantastic things (Drogba was a joke for his first year, Van Persie took a while to get going, Henry wasn't a first season wonder).
3. Kane. We have to give our youth a chance and this kid might have something. He's started well and has a bit of craft about him that's rare in an English forward. Perfect third striker material.

We are not weak up front. Our options are good and, with a bit of luck, could be fantastic. We are much better off than the days of Bent, Campbell and Pav (and they played in a 4-4-2!)

Too many ifs and buts in that.

Soldado may come good, Kane might make it.

Adebayor is good but he blows hot and cold and is off to the ACN in Jan.

Unlike the rest of the top 6 I am not confident that any one of those strikers will score 20 goals.

I think we are weak up top.

Still holding out hope for a surprise attacker in. Other than that, I'm actually rather pleased with how this window's gone.

Hoping to read Baldini sacked in the morning. Another successful window for him.

6 in (Davies, Vorm, Dier, Yedlin, Fazio, Stombouli)

7 out (Defoe, Livermore, Siggy, Falque, Dawson, Obika, Fryers)

Profit made (about £1.5m)

No big loss in quality (unless Sandro goes).

Levy will be pleased with Baldini's work

They're building us a fucking stadium and built us one of the best training grounds in the world. Is that not ambition?
It is to sell us a get a return on their investment though, you do realise that? Success isn't their motivation, profit is, success helps with the profit though

A disappointing end but feel reactions are being magnified by Sundays result. I am gutted about Sandro though :-(

The optimistic side of me thinks as long as Schneiderlin stays at Soton it'll be interesting to see if we can get him and J-Rod in January. I think January is an under-utilised market, as despite having a bit of premium, clubs that buy well in January tend to have a good end to the season. Hull getting to the cup final and Newcastle almost making top four excellent examples.

However can't help but feel incredibly short-changed by levy. We get screwed for money at every opportunity, ticket increases, shirt increases, membership increases, then the stubhub debacle. And yet he can't appreciate inflation on transfer fees for good players!

I appreciate we have the stadium to build but we've had longer to fund this than most, and I'm still waiting for a terrible naming rights deal coming up as they offered a few quid more.

More money in the PL than ever and we fail to sign a player over £10m (even if Davies was it was a swap). That's mid table stuff. Hull and Southampton have spent more than that on a single player this summer.

Levy always tries to achieve unrealistic goals with the bare minimum, then sacks the guy who can't achieve them. Really hope Poch is given next season even if we come 7th, wouldn't count on it though!

We won`t be getting MS or J Rod in Jan, big fish will come calling for those two.

@Drexl - saying you want the owner(s) of the club to "get Ebola" is just fucking pathetic.

At the end of the day, this is football- a game.

What you said is just disgusting.
I might be mistaken (and apologies if I am) but Drexl has history for saying stuff like that on the forum. Need to think first before engaging keyboard(n)
