Trimmed the squad. Shame we didn't get anyone in other than the player who we have had signed for a few days. Surprisingly boring last day of the transfer window.

I would not be so angry if our rivals hadn't splashed the cash and strengthened but every single one that finished above us and the one that finished directly below us have upgraded massively while we have at best stood still and at worst regressed

Our rivals are Swansea, Newcastle now for 7th place instead of our rivals being Liverpool and Arsenal for 4th

It is a totally unacceptable situation and a rightful cause of anger

Am I the only one who feels bad for Stambouli. His transfer today has basically been completely forgotten about.

I really wish ITK and the rags didn't exist sometimes, maybe people would temper expectations actually appreciate what we have and not just clamour for new players to get new players.

I don't know what people were expecting. It was obvious when we signed Poch that we were trying to rescue the money we spent last season. We can't compete financially with the big boys, at least until the new stadium is built, so we aren't even trying.

It's not all bad news. We haven't substantially improved the 1st team but we have patched up most of the holes in our squad. I've no doubt we would have gone for MS & Jay Rod but we weren't going to pay silly money for them. We'll be back in in January by which time Poch will have a much better idea of what we actually need.

6 in (Davies, Vorm, Dier, Yedlin, Fazio, Stombouli)

7 out (Defoe, Livermore, Siggy, Falque, Dawson, Obika, Fryers)

Profit made (about £1.5m)

No big loss in quality (unless Sandro goes).

Levy will be pleased with Baldini's work

God that makes for depressing reading.

A back up for rose
A back up for loris
An American I've never heard of and can't join us yet
An Argentinian I've never heard of who at 26 only has 3 international caps
A French bloke I've never heard of

Harding inspiring is it!

Bollocks. Well, again a transfer window where the manager is let down and we allow a gap to widen.

Another season of trying against the odds.

Slightly despondent.
I honestly believe that Poch only had eyes for Jay Rod and MS and unfortunately Southampton already got so dicked by other clubs they decided to shut up shop and join a nunnery for fear their reputation will be tainted for ever. Once that happened I reckon other names were mentioned but nothing that made Poch go hard so for now we wait until we can get him what he wants in Jan. I don't think it's the right strategy as we are lacking but I also am happy we didn't overpay.

We all know Schneiderlin and J Rod would be Poch targets from the start. Rather than go get than Levy thinks he'll wait and get them cheaper come deadline day. Meanwhile Pool come in and buy all round them, as do Arsenal. Pathetic. Once again Levy has been Levyed. All this nonsense he's great at negotiating.

The gap between us and the top 4-5 gets bigger. The gap between us and the mid table sides got smaller. Great job, Daniel.

When the gap gets big enough, we don't even have to pretend we're competing with them. Maybe that's more convenient.

Some very angry Spurs fans on Twitter. Edited photo of VDV with 'this game is about profit' banners

You look at those 6 in. Early days and all that, but you'd expect those names alongside Hull, Newcastle etc.

one of the most exciting transfer deadline days I can remember. Thank goodness Jennifer Lawrence uses the cloud for her saucy pics, eh?

If people listened to JJ they wouldn't have had these high expectations. The fans do it to themselves because they're fucking masochists.

I wonder whether the fabled Vertonghen contract announcement has been held back for tomorrow to try to placate fans? :p

But that makes no sense. Squad size is determined by regs like all the other teams but its the quality of the squad that counts. Upgrading inefficient players was needed and there is no excuse for that not to have been done. I still think there is something to be done.
It makes perfect sense.. You have 18-19 senior outfield players, leaving room for academy players to graduate & that will show enthusiasm in training & want to progress & put pressure on senior players. It's not good having an overload of players who get disillusioned when there not involved, having less senior players eases the tension & breeds confidence

Sold Pav for a profit. Less nonsense; more like due a knighthood.

More assumption that the deals not getting done (the ones based on little more than hearsay) is down to us.

Bunch of victims the lot of you.

we hear this way too often. i refuse to believe moutinho, leandro, musacchio, oscar, villa, rodriguez, schneiderlin & countless others all failed because we were unlucky and not because levy's too busy mistaking net profit for net gain
