He may not have a choice in the matter. Under takeover rules, if a company buys a majority stake then it can purchase the rest of the shares on the same terms. Nothing that the minority share holders can do about it.

Do those rules apply even if it's a privately owned company?

Also what is the threshold? ENIC own 85% and Lewis owns 70.6% of ENIC with Levy owning 29.4%.

Except that ENIC is going to make hundreds of millions of pounds in profit if they sold the club. How does that work in your asset stripping is the only way to make money in football thinking?

The money is in club worth. You buy a club and stadium for 800 million and in ten years it's worth 2billion. That's why an investment firm would want to own a sports club.

Look at how much ENIC is going to make from when they bought the club. It's painfully obvious how much money there is to be made in sport if done correctly.

The value of land in Tottenham alone has gone up 30% in the last year (don't tell Archway).

Please please can this happen!

ENIC have obviously taken us as far as they can and whole club is stale.

This would hopefully give us the injection of capital needed to go up a step.

Let's hope if they do come in they throw the current stadium plans in the bin. It really is just a boring generic emirates with blue seats.

You better let ENIC know, they were the ones who sacked Hoddle 6 games into a new season and fired a guy who got us two 5th place finishes.

There is no pride in losing to West Ham 3 times in one season.
There is no pride in letting in 12 goals in 3 games against Liverpool
There is no pride in losing to Swiss side in the quarter finals of Europa
There is no pride in being 2 up against Arsenal and losing 5-2.

I don't enjoy that, that kind of crap has to change.

What do you do for a living Mullers?

But these are just single instances that happen to any club, Man City lost at home to Stoke recently, Man Utd have lost to everyone at home, Chelsea have slipped numerous times, as have Arsenal. Before ENIC came along we were having the same results a lot more often.

I don't blame you for wanting improved results at all but don't tell me you didn't enjoy beating Utd away two seasons running (including beating their title winning team under Fergie) or the 2-3 comeback at the emirates etc.. What about our Champions League run? You know as well as the rest of us that football is unpredictable and more so in this league than any other. We've still improved over the last 10-15 years any way you want to spin it, maybe it's not happened fast enough for you but it has happened.

But every single team in the world has moments like that. Hell, even Ferguson's Man Utd lost 6-1 to Man City, and the very same Swiss side got them out of the Champions League.
Agreed. And there was no pride for them either. Their fans felt humiliated and demanded action as a result

I reckon Levy has tried to get the best deal on the finance by making it sound like the club is on great financial terms and is a super safe place to loan money to (which is fairly true when you think about it) and Cain Hoy have gone "Hang on, if this company is going to make loads of money with this new stadium why don't we just buy the frigger and make all that money ourselves??"

Did you feel pride when we finished 4th?

Did you feel pride when we were in the Champions League?

Did you feel pride when Bale was tearing it up in the CL and in 12-13?

Did you feel pride when we have beat Arsenal?

What about all the other times we beat Liverpool before last season?

Oh, and that Swiss team is actually very good. You're probably like Sherwood and just think they are a pub team.

Your arguments are ridiculous. You've completely ignored all the positive things that have happened before last season.

Also, this isn't even the thread to be talking about this.

I think this is partially the story....i absolutely think that Cain Hoy (or more appropriately Guggenheim at the time since Cain Hoy didn't exist until Thursday, so they probably would have been speaking to Goldstein's branch of Guggenheim as a matter of fact) decided to make a move once they spoke to us about stadium financing.

However i really think that Guggenheim probably been looking to move into the PL. These guys aren't the type to throw together a company in a single day on a whim. They already bought the LA Dodgers and tried to buy the LA Clippers, sports teams are clearly an area they are trying to move into and if you are looking at professional sports then PL is going to be a target sooner than later.

I would guess that Cain Hoy was well along the path to being created months ago and that a shortlist of clubs had been drawn up. When (i would assume given his position inside Guggenheim) Goldstein sat down with Spurs to talk about financing he would have gotten to see the full books and meet at a bare minimum Levy. At that point i think it became a case of "We have seen the books, we have met one of the owners, they are on our shortlist of clubs....let's make a move."

I seem to recall posting about three times yesterday that this story was a case of journalistic spin and excess. These things achieve critical mass too quickly nowadays and people post things like 'this seems to be getting momentum', when all that is really happening is that one cheapo journalist is paraphrasing another cheapo journalist's spin - the same story propagating itself to create the illusion of activity.

So what if Cain Hoy might be interested in putting in a cash offer for the club? I expect that goes for quite a few investors. And ENIC are talking to a lot of investors at present, so there are going to be a lot of people with a lot of money scrutinising THFC's and ENIC's accounts and business plans. Some of them are going to consider buying the whole package - as an option.

It's not a big deal unless ENIC are more interested in selling than they are in adding value and there is no inidication at present that they have any such inclinations. There is plenty of evidence of the opposite: ENIC's own statements and their past record of adding maximum value before disposing of their interest.

If we all go off the deep end on 2-3 frantic threads every time one of these capitalists takes a fancy to THFC, we won't have any space to discuss anything else.

As I keep saying, there is scarcely any story here, just a load of spin, followed by panic in various guises. It might be that there will be a story here, if Cain Hoy start to offer what I already described as 'silly money', but I doubt they would do that. Capitalists do not get rich by offering more than market value for an asset.
