Just on the way home from the game.

Bobby was great but can't score for toffee

Andros - love him or loathe him, he makes things happen. First thought is attack but second is step over

Vlad and Andros on the right was like rolling out a red carpet to the opposition to attack

Crowd was fantastic. They were cheering and singing at 0-2 and the humour continued to the end

The Mana Mana (muppets song) was brilliant!!

I've criticised him yes but I've never taken the piss out of him or shown any hatred for him. Yesterday (or whenever) I stated that I liked the bloke and felt sorry for him but the majority of my anti-Soldado posts have come in a debate between Ade/Soldado. My point in the post you quoted comes about because whenever the team is announced you just end up with a bunch of moaning 'fans', especially on the official page (where players are most likely to look) telling them how shit they are and how we should get rid of them for free. Furthermore, what's worse is fans at games who just sit there bitching and moaning about certain players, but that discussion is for another time. I don't like the "I pay my money, entertain me" attitude, nor the "These players are played thousands a week, he should score that". I never realised that being paid a lot of money meant that you weren't human and didn't make mistakes. These 'fans' that are vocal in their dislike for players who are playing for their beloved club, it's unreal and certainly going to be more detrimental than beneficial.

Sorry for the rant, but you get my drift. If you were constantly told how shit you were at your job, regardless of how much you're paid, it'd either affect your motivation or performances, or both. That's why I have no problem with players like Naughton picking up their wages each week and not playing. As someone on here a while back said, Naughton's only crime is not being good enough (and even that's up for debate based on what I've seen from Walker so far this season).
I agree apart from the last sentence- Naughton is 'good enough' IMO

Having seen the miss, it's clear that he saw the keeper coming and tried to lift the ball over him, which was a clever thing to do as he would have got to a lower shot. However, he's trying to overcomplicate matters rather than play instinctively. He was vital to the goals that got us back on the road and killed off the game.

It's a bad miss, but nowhere near as bad I was anticipating given some of the descriptions. As you say, he looked like he was trying to second guess the keeper.

Fair to say he's probably over-thinking things.

The ball seems to kick up a little as well which is where he got the extra, unwanted elevation.

He's definitely got the yips though. He'd have tickled those in for fun is he was about his game.

Best I've seen Townsend play for sometime. Great awareness, lovely crosses and even found myself wanting him to shoot more !

Capoue was a monster.

Paulinho had a very tidy game too.

Radio commentary on the site suggested Andros played very well
I did not think that he played well, he did put in a few good crosses tonight. His positional play was poor, did not help out our right back when we were defending. Lost the ball a lot , above all, I do no think that he tactically awar
I think it's important that they played well if we are looking to sell some of them. Personally I wouldn't sell capoue. I think he has a role to play this season. Kaboul, chiriches and Paulinho can go if we get good money.

Paulinho had good game today, moved the ball well.

Ha I was there this week, it's a bit of a novelty and pricey for what it is, I prefer a crisp sandwich to just have crisps in!! :)

£3 for a filled, albeit with crisps, Belfast bap, chips and soup? Not too bad.

But cutting the bap is cheating though. Just pull the insides out and fill with pickled onion monster munch. Job done :)

No more amusing than some people thinking Soldado might. He has done it before at least.

What else do you suggest? Play Kane in every one of our 50 games in Jan/Feb?
I never said it did. But I'm happy to hear alternatives because Kane can't play every game.

I never said I wouldn't mind seeing Adebayor replaced, but we haven't managed to do that yet. So we've got three choices really:

  1. Play Kane every game
  2. Play Soldado, who is not a wanker but can't hit a barn door.
  3. Bring Adebayor back into the fold who according to some is a wanker and has proven he can hit barn doors, and goals as well.

One and two. Play Kane in the league games, play Soldado in the cup games. Soldado might miss chances my nan could score (she's 93), but he still came away with two assists, the second with a ball you would never see Adebayor play.

He likes you to think he cares. His performances at Swansea, Leicester and Burnley in recent times would suggest otherwise.

Adebayor cares because promotional photo.

Just got home and reading some of the comments makes me think was at a different game.
Thought our game plan to let them go 2 up in 7 minutes was a masterstroke. They had absolutely no idea what to do after that - very ineffectual.
That said hope we never have Jan and Kaboul at centre of defence again. First goal showed the chasm between them and the discussion between them in first half was a treat - as was the crowd singing Jans name to show whos side they were on.
I have had plenty of digs in the past at Townsend, but you cannot question the fact that he cares. His play may not be top notch but he was the one who got us going first half though bit anonymous second.
Paulinho also came out the game with credit. We play a system that doesnt suut him but he was fully involved and got the important first goal to get us back in it.
Feel sorry for Soldado, showed his class time and again but that spell Ades mother put on him to ensure he doesnt score still holing good. Was right behind the goal and couldnt believe he missed - and he was deflated after. Others genuinely tried to perk him up but only goals will solve that.
He set up 2 today, showed class in pulling a long ball down and breaking to get a shot away (just wide of course) and had great turn and shot second half but the game will only be remembered for the miss.
notes in some of the rest - Vorm does not command box as well as Hugo.
Capoue scored cracker, really powerful shot but to me wasnt involved enough first half.
Stramboli looks an accident waiting to happen - offered nothing to the game.
Rose scored and probably injured himself celebrating but you would never guess he used to play wide left in midfield.
Last words will be for Onomah(sp?). Good to see him get on with no pressure. Looked assured, nice quick feet and has the most important element of time on the ball. Promising.

Sorry one last thing, first time have been in North Stand in years. Crowd here need to step it up a bit, team were generally lack lustre but that will still better than fans around me. Our contingent of 6 got fed up trying to get others to sing.
