Setting up two goals, both of them via quite intelligent play, is a good day for anybody. Unfortunately Soldado is one of those players that can have such a productive game yet still be lambasted by many on the basis that they were merely assists. In fact, had he scored twice, it would have simply been used to vilify him because it was merely a cup game.

He has a long way to go to prove his worth. He may never do so. But his job isn't to just score goals. It's to play football and he did a good job of that today. I think we should appreciate the day he had and hope it leads to more like it.
There is something to be said for a player who doesnt sit and sulk about it and just gets on with it like Bobby. Fortunately, most people appreciate his attitude and appreciate what he does bring to the team and love him for it. Just look at his twitter. No nastly replies to fuckwads to his latest tweet. All replies of encouragement. I think most Spurs fans are like this, wrt Bobby. The ones who hate Bobby are certainly vocal about it on here while also being vocal about their undying love for Ade.

I said a few weeks back when we were playing badly but scraping victories that as long as we're there or there abouts in the PL + cups once our play improves, then we're in with a great chance this season. Leicester (H) is very winnable as is Sheff Utd over 2 legs - If we can be in the final of a cup comp, the last 16 of another while still fighting for top 4 and European honours despite everything that has happened this season then we're doing bloody well. Our players get a lot of unwarranted stick, especially the fringe players (there seems to be an attitude of "if you're not world class, you're championship level, fuck off"), but these players are vitally important for us to continue over 4 competitions. Paulinho is a great example; many have written him off and want rid at basically any cost, but this is a midfielder who scored vital goals last season and can do the same again this season now that he's rested. If you can't get behind the whole team regardless of who plays, then you are a championship level fan and I sincerely hope you are the one who fucks off.

COYS.

Re: Paulinho ..It was nice to see a dangerous cross in from a corner whipped In with pace.. Please watch and learn Eriksen! .. I think all our signings are capable of more and improvement.. And Soldado ..that cross was superb! .. Such a frustrating player.. I know there's a player there.. just needs a PL goal and to avoid being dropped the next game.

I'm still just so happy we made it through the 3rd round for once.

At the beginning of the season, there were three realistic hopes I really wanted to see from this year:

1 - revenge against Wet Spam
2 - no more capitufuckinglations
3 - make it past the 3rd round of the FA, as I love the competition

Two out of three ain't bad, and from here out #2 is still possible.

Just got home and reading some of the comments makes me think was at a different game.
Thought our game plan to let them go 2 up in 7 minutes was a masterstroke. They had absolutely no idea what to do after that - very ineffectual.
That said hope we never have Jan and Kaboul at centre of defence again. First goal showed the chasm between them and the discussion between them in first half was a treat - as was the crowd singing Jans name to show whos side they were on.
I have had plenty of digs in the past at Townsend, but you cannot question the fact that he cares. His play may not be top notch but he was the one who got us going first half though bit anonymous second.
Paulinho also came out the game with credit. We play a system that doesnt suut him but he was fully involved and got the important first goal to get us back in it.
Feel sorry for Soldado, showed his class time and again but that spell Ades mother put on him to ensure he doesnt score still holing good. Was right behind the goal and couldnt believe he missed - and he was deflated after. Others genuinely tried to perk him up but only goals will solve that.
He set up 2 today, showed class in pulling a long ball down and breaking to get a shot away (just wide of course) and had great turn and shot second half but the game will only be remembered for the miss.
notes in some of the rest - Vorm does not command box as well as Hugo.
Capoue scored cracker, really powerful shot but to me wasnt involved enough first half.
Stramboli looks an accident waiting to happen - offered nothing to the game.
Rose scored and probably injured himself celebrating but you would never guess he used to play wide left in midfield.
Last words will be for Onomah(sp?). Good to see him get on with no pressure. Looked assured, nice quick feet and has the most important element of time on the ball. Promising.

Sorry one last thing, first time have been in North Stand in years. Crowd here need to step it up a bit, team were generally lack lustre but that will still better than fans around me. Our contingent of 6 got fed up trying to get others to sing.

Good post, I was in the North stand as well, it was bitterly cold last night and the match itself was okay but not brilliant.

You probably may not say this, if Kane wasn't scoring. I think Kane scoring has lured us into false sense of security. End of the day, Soldado's role is a striker. His job is to score goals. While I can sympathise with him & understand what he is going through, IMO its going on for a little too long. IMO, I would loan him to another club in PL for 6 months & decide in summer.

Overheard a funny conversation when Burnley made a substitution

Steven Reid came on and someone behind me said he used to at for us and his mate agreed. I turned around to say that he's 1) 12 inches taller and 2) a different skin colour. But they were black and I thought I shouldn't go there.

And leave us with just 2 strikers?

Obviously, if Soldado goes, we need to get one more.

If we were to get a striker in I'd rather we'd shift Ade if we can, seems like he's 3rd choice at the moment and it sounds like the club are desperate to get him off the books.

Anyone have a link to the goals thats not BBC? Apparently the beeb discriminates against non brits.

They discriminate against those that are unlikely to have paid the licence fee fo shizzle my dizzle.

I shit u not, 1 green apple sliced, 1 Mars bar sliced, 2 slices of buttered white bread, combine them and enjoy. @Montasura @Cavehillspur @Dundalk_Spur @Mr Pink i need ur support, I presume this delicacy has spread as far south as Dundalk... I could be wrong lol.

Mate I had a Mars bar and apple sandwich in a wee village close to Coleraine 23 years ago. Tastes so much better than it sounds.
