If Harry ever wanted out...

If Harry wanted out, should we let him?

  • Yes, by all means.

  • OH HELL NO!

It depends what timescale you're talking about.
If it was this summer - I wouldn't want him to go. However, if in a couple of years time, we are still in the same position - in EL and failing to make a sustained challenge for trophies and CL, then I would have to accept that he may want to leave Spurs.

Would be disappointed to lose him if we were making progress and building a team that looked capable of breaking into top 4, as happened at time of the departure of Carrick, Berbatov, Keane and Modric.

I wouldn't want him to go either, nobody would want him to leave but if a club like Real Madrid comes in with a mega bid and the player wants to leave, we cannot keep the player. Man Utd couldn't keep Ronaldo, we couldn't keep Bale, Modric etc. I know it's hard to take but it's the truth.

It's absolutely the same answer for every player. If he wants out you can reach an agreement for one more season at best.
Don't see this situation in the next three years because he's one of our own. And then it depends how close Spurs will be to winning silverware.

Proven as in we can't keep a player that wants to leave.
Obviously it's never good when a quality player wants to leave, you have to do the best you can to replace the player with the funds received from the sale.
Have we ever kept anyone before?

it's not the truth, utd could have kept ronaldo and we could have kept bale and modric, both clubs chose to sell. anyway, this thread is so stupid and typical of masochist spurs fans. oh look we have something nice, when are we going to lose it?

Are you serious? What about Rooney who was one of Everton's own? I'm sure there are other examples too, I can't think of any. Plenty in the lower leagues, Bale obviously left southampton, Lennon - Leeds.

OP should start a new vote on whether we would support the pitch at WHL wanting to move to a CL club.. you never know what happens with grass.. i've always been unsure if the less green bit in front of fat bloke who sits in the east row1 is really a yid ..

And that's why they left.

If he'd put in a solid 5 years playing at this years level and wanted a new experience or we still were not winning shit then it would be fair enough to let him go but 5 years of 30 goals is a big ask and he would be worth shitloads.

Ferguson and AVB clearly wanted to keep both. In the case of Ferguson his relationship with the Glazers is very good, he knew it wasn't possible to keep Ronaldo.

It's just a light hearted discussion thread, I mean these forums are for discussing a range of different subjects, I don't see why someone has to run to The Amnesty thread every time they want to post an opinion which is deemed by the majority to be unpopular

John Scales perhaps not sure, I don't know the whole history of spurs transfers.
We kept Darren Anderton when he was courted by man Utd

He said that he was told they had bid for him but sugar and (Francis I think) pressured him in to signing a new contract and he said its a decision he regrets and that he should have signed for United

Other than that pretty much every big player who has been wanted by other clubs (ruling out king who stayed as his injury prevented big clubs actively pursuing him) has eventually been sold after a degree of haggling and in modric's case even a season of prolonging the inevitable
