Where do people think we could finish should we "only" bring on Schneiderlin and Martial to round out our window?

I personally think bringing on Schneiderlin makes us a Top 4 contender on his own because he would go a long way to solidifying a team defense that was simply putrid last season.

Add in an exciting attacking talent like Martial and I really think it's a fantastic window.
If Arse get cech and add a few more of what they need, I cant see who we can beat to the top 4. Utd will buy some stunning players this window, Chelsea and City are way beyond us. I think we would have to buy a lot more that 2 players to keep up with them

What the frick is that latest ITK meant to mean? 'still trying' always sounds awfully desperate to me.
It means we are going after Schneiderlin, it means Pochottino is trying to convince him which, since I don't believe Poch uses thought waves, means he is talking to him, which means Souithampton must have given permission for Spurs to talk to him, which means he is definitely leaving Southampton, which means Schneiderlin is considering his options, which means, since he is talking to Poch, that we are one of those options.
Now Schneiderlin knows therefore that he has a definite place at Spurs, does he know that of Arsenal or Manchester United? If not then to turn down Spurs would be to leave himself out on something of a limb, no doubt if they didn't come through for him he could go elsewhere but would that elsewhere be a better option than Spurs?
All in all it tells us that we are putting him in a position to secure his future with a club that will be challenging for CL places over the next few years or wait and see which could leave him Christ knows where.

Lets hope that someone is not whispering in MS's other ear about our excessive turnover in managers in recent years!

Dont think that will have any bearing on his decision frankly, it will come down to whether he wants to take a chance on us or join a top four side should they want him.

Joining a top four side is certainly one consideration, the other will be joining a big club where he can get regular playing time, I`m would have thought MS has his eyes on Euro 2016 and I would think Poch will be selling him that idea.

It would leave us short of a CF.

If Martial is principally coming as a LWF, we still need back-up for Kane (or we'll be relying on Soldado and/or Ade again)
Well we also have this guy, Nacer Chadli who scored 13 and assisted 5 or Christian Eriksen who can both play LWF while Martial plays striker. That's even assuming we sell the likes of Townsend. While also not accounting for youth like Pritchard or Oduwa who can play there or even Pritchard or Onomah who could push Eriksen to LWF.

It's a fluid group.

I'm pretty sure Townsend will not be sold. I've heard it mentioned a few times. Don't know how true that is.

I can't see him going personally as there are too many others we will try and shift. A shame I know as I can't stand the guy.

So no one thinks that our Chairman's lack of faith/support in managers has not put any players off joining us?

You sell the ones you can sell, who are not part of our future plans, as and when you can sell them. I am sure we won't be selling in the order they appear on our "not required for the future list ".

Not entirely sure about that, the majority of points we dropped were against winnable teams usually at home last season. A couple of top signings, stay relatively lucky with injuries and we'll be very competitive in my opinion. It's not always a case of whoever makes the most and biggest signings does the best, as we all should know.

I think Schneiderlin/Kramer/that kind of midfielder would help us stop conceding so many goals and put us in control of more games. If we can keep scoring at the other end that's going to be of huge benefit to us.

Martial or a similar type would give us threat to run in behind defences which is ideal when teams try to nullify Kane by playing as high as possible and keeping him away from the box. He'll play a similar role to what JRod did if he joins imo. We currently don't have any players like this who can create more space for our playmakers to do more damage, Chadli at a stretch maybe but he's not quite explosive enough. Townsend is more of a byline winger who doesn't really make runs in behind.

I agree but I don't think we are the chance option, I guess you're talking about CL when you say taking a chance which is reasonable but I think we are the certainty as he will play for us and he'd be taking a chance of being a regular for other teams.
As I see it Chelsea and Man City are non options which leaves the other two, if Wengar wants him so badly why hasn't he ever bothered with him before, last season for instance, I'd ask myself that if I was him and then there's United and van Gaal and who the fuck knows what he's thinking half the time let alone their ace negotiator woodward.

Agree. As we know, Deschamps demand regular game time for top5/6 and/or EL/CL clubs.
Ergo, struggling for game time in top 4 is in his eyes not better than playing regularly for a top 5 team and in EL. Ergo, if Morgan Schneideryidlin wants to be surer of participation in Euro 2016, going for Spurs is the safer bet.

He does have his favourites though: Cabaye gets consistently chosen for squads despite not playing regularly at PSG.
