Exactly what I was said.

I think you misread my post there, bud. I'm saying that Wimmer will not be playing alongside him. He's played one season of top flight football, in a foreign league, and at LCB. I do not think he's being brought in to be our starting RCB in the league, thereby displacing two right-footers.

Will be interesting to see though if Poch is content with Fats and Dier for the right position.

But it was still a very smart buy. He's an absolute creative force in potent form. Calling him a journeyman is doing him a massive disservice, when he's actually a rare beast - somebody who can make the difference against a packed defence and help you turn draws into wins, who can summon a little bit of pixie dust and turn a game.

Fucking West Ham.:shifty:

He is a journeyman hence why he signs for midtable teams. He's had a good season, but he's not a great player. Good signing for West Ham, sure. But he isn't as good as Eriksen IMO so there's no point in saying we should have bought him. If he was an absolute creative force, rather than just being a highlights player, he'd have got a move to a big club at dome point in his career and be playing regularly for what is a poor French squad by their standards.

mediocre players - hmmmm!!

only if we knew when we splashed out 17m on a Brazilian international, I guess there was no crystal ball to predict how successful we would be.

French international in capoue, I believe Arsenal were after him at that period,

Spanish international goal scorer.

sometimes signing player x could be seen as a master stroke, other times it doesn't seem so.

To say we go out and buy mediocre players is a bit unfair, as no one can foresee it being successful or not.

In someways I totally agree with you, but I also believe that the sort of due diligence is something our club don't get right, ie are these players adapting to the league..does their skill set and family set up make their success in a foreign league transferable to success in the premier league, I just think it's far too coincidental that these top players come and 5 out of 7 hit a two season slump. Granted we aren't the only team that screw this up look at Liverpool...but certain clubs seem to get this right...scouting and identifying, making sure they are the right fit on and off the field and then perhaps the ongoing support. I think we as a club have room lots of room to improve this area

If I were to read in the papers tomorrow about one of two scenarios it would not be unexpected.

1) A&C in a gun rampage in the virtual fish Community called Spurs

2) A&C in a Michael Hutvhins type accident in a wardrobe with a kipper up his ask.

Please stop the fish puns before I start my own ITK discussion thread where I end up talking only to myself about things I don't know

West Ham sign Payet "They're showing more ambition than us"

Spurs linked to decent players "Why are we wasting time on players we won't get, this window is a disaster"

Its still June !!!! Some of you need help !!

I don't know any fan spurs or other who who didn't think we had made the best signing in Paulinho. Until he played in the EPL and realised how badly suited he is. If we sell him for close to £17m then this sale is even better than Luiz to PSG for £50m.

Not quite Andy Carroll to Liverpool £35m though.

It's not often I agree with you.

Trippier is this year's Davies - possibly good enough to replace the shit we've had in RB, but not so great that he's a cert.

Wimmer is probably more of a Chiriches than a Fazio, and neither one of those accolades would be much to be proud of.

I'll be shocked if we sign a first team-quality player, which is appropriate because I suspect our transfer window will be shocking.

Links to big names, followed by 'nearly there' stories connecting us to good but not 'big name' players, followed by a couple of pointlessly mediocre signings that we'll struggle to get rid of a year from now.

This transfer window is going to be one massive 'Fuck You' to any Spurs fan that hopes to be supporting a competitive team. No amount of PR bullshit is going to cover that.

Come on, we've only been gazumped in our top target, missed out on the 'superstar' french kid, got Hugo packing his bags and pissed off the NFL. And it's only June and the transfer window isn't even open yet

Levy has got this. Why the panic?

Razor blades! Get your razor blades here!

Great to see our doom and gloom suicidal part of the transfer window has arrived. As it does every year.

We had the youngest squad in the premier league last season. We have added to it. Pritchard and alli coming back from loans. Wimmer and tripier coming in. With more expected as soon as we make a couple of sales. Our team is more experienced and will be used to poch's system.
Yet some of you act like we will be in a relegation scrap? It is funny.

Only 2 more months of this to go.

I do think arguments about "it's only June" and "the window isn't open yet" are smoke screens at best. 1. of July is just a date, nothing more. The only date that matters is the 1st of September, and who you have registered before the dealine. Apart from that, there is in reality no important dates, no starting date for signings. Only a finish date. You can sign, talk, offer, even train right now. There is no point in waiting around until 00:01 on the 1st.

Its not fun when your rivals are going after Carlos Bacca, Benteke and have signed Firnino, Milner and Clyne. And we want Victor Moses.

Surely the number 1 priority has always been getting the surplus players out the door and off the wage bill rather than bringing in the new 'Stars of YouTube' ? I'd be more excited to get a bit of ITK saying Ade and Kaboul were off to Turkey or whatever.

And how many did they sign last year? That took them from 2nd to 6th in the league.

Surely people weren't really naive enough to believe there was even a remote chance of Kane leaving this summer?

Kane staying was a formality, wouldn't even attempt to spin it in a positive light... Maybe if he scores 20 plus goals again this season then perhaps keeping him beyond that would be considered a 'huge step in the right direction'.

Only player who actually matters and whose future looks somewhat unclear is Lloris'.

spot on, pure Levy spin so when he fails miserably to land top identified targets he can say 'our number 1 target going into the window was to keep Harry Kane and that what we did' so mission accomplished and of course this would sound even more hollow if he couldn't stir up some speculation about his future

Get a grip man.

We've already signed two players - defenders no less - in the position we most needed to re-inforce this summer.

We have 6 weeks until the start of the PL, so if we can tie up most of the rest of our signings (i expect 3 more players in) within the next 2-3 weeks then they still have a good amount of time to train.
