All im saying is anyone is for sale, we just dont offer the sale price. If we offered 25m last year we would have got him.

Maybe, I just don't know if that's true. Koeman seemed pretty certain enough players had left, but that's for another thread.

I've an inkling we'll have tales from the sea shortly to get this thread back on track...

The good scouts can separate the players who will succeed in the Premier League from those who will not. In many cases our scouts failed to do this. Scouting is not about luck but is about judgement.

Within limits though. How many players do the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal sign who end up as failures in their eyes and they then try to move on. Chelsea have a poor record with numerous failures who they subsequently have to try and move on.

woke up, saw some comments and agreed with them. Its not despair, its reality.

What reality? That the tw is open for another two months? That our opposition have bought some players early? That we are looking to sell before we can buy? That the season doesn't start for another month, yet you have already written us off?

Too much charlie last night methinks. Or maybe a pill?

I do think arguments about "it's only June" and "the window isn't open yet" are smoke screens at best. 1. of July is just a date, nothing more. The only date that matters is the 1st of September, and who you have registered before the dealine. Apart from that, there is in reality no important dates, no starting date for signings. Only a finish date. You can sign, talk, offer, even train right now. There is no point in waiting around until 00:01 on the 1st.

Not entirely right. Playing contracts generally work on a 1 July to 30 June calendar. Many players will have loyalty bonuses due on 30 June that they would not want to jeopardise by transferring before that date (or they would be looking for the buying club to reimburse them for lost bonuses which Levy is likely (probably rightly) to see as needless extra expenditure). Transfers that have gone through already are likely to be where no such loyalty payment etc is due or the buying club takes a hit to secure the signing ahead of others or the selling club reduces asking price to avoid having to be liable for the loyalty bonus etc.

You know what, like Dovakin says, JJ sounds pretty positive and hopefully that's a hint that there's a few irons in the fire that we're not aware of. Given that we've got the League's hottest young striker who intends to stick with us, and hopefully Lloris will too, as well as a lot of good young players, it would be sheer stupidity not to try and improve the areas we're weak in this year. I'm quite happy to criticise when criticism is clearly due, but it's too early for that. I'll wait and see for the time time being.

Now then... I'm starting to worry for Trix's well being. Hopefully, he's not wearing a life jacket and treading water somewhere in the Bristol channel!

Well this thread is a horrific place to be again I see. Shock.

Personally still feeling very optimistic and happy with signings so far. Looking forward to what is coming next.

He's posted in the "I just got hitched" thread ffs the teasing @#$% (I jest).

The question is do I go to sleep following a night shift or hold on for a little bit longer?

Hooked already :-(

Not a moot point, but that's not the entire story. Depends on how hostile the relationship between the selling club, the player & the buying club is, which party is most forcing the deal, or if the deal is completely amicable, and from when the player can sign a new contract to come into effect on the 1st etc etc etc.

good morning
trix posted this in the moses thread over on coys:
Was told yesterday that we were currently talking to Chelsea regarding one of their players. Thought it probably meant Salah, but this could well be it. I'm only putting 2+2 together mate so I wouldn't worry too much just yet. Considering we went all out for Ings and were very interested in
J-Rod does suggest a direct WF type is more on the cards than anything else, and VM does fit the description..

As long as Pochettino and the coaching staff are happy with who we bring in then I'm happy.

I'd be absolutely amazed if they're happy with what happens this summer. They'd be the first under Levy to get thing close to what they needed.

Much more likely is they will go into the season knowing there's no credible chance of improving on last season.

If we wanted a wing forward, why didnt we sign Payet?

Who needs new ITK when "who wants to meet new local singles" ads keep popping up.
