If moussa can stay fit there is no reason why he can't play a large role this year, we all know what he is capable of, couple years ago he was the first name on the teamsheet

In that situation i would keep the powder dry till the right one comes along, even if it means buying no one else this summer, we have just got rid of 3 squad player level players and trying to shift some more without success so far, so no point adding to them for sake of it

We have the likes of Alli and Pritchard to boost our midfield, our defence looks pretty sorted now

I have to disagree about not buying if we dont have to although levy would Love you, because we simply cannot place your trust in two players that have never played top flight football its madness to suggest it.
What we need is an experienced head in there for when things are tough which will happen against the best teams week in week out.
Dont get me wrong Im happy to have excellent young players coming through but not at the expense of losing most weeks whilst bringing them on, and what would that do to their development too.
We need quality in there and we need to spend the cash to do it.

I like nothing more than seeing a Stoof stamp on here, but just don't see the point in buying players that are the level of Holtby, Paulinho, Stambouli etc, we need players that are better than we have, but they are very hard to get, if one falls into our lap then great, go for him but if not best make do with what we have imho

Well we are in for a tough season ahead then if we stick but unlike you i will be fucked off if we stay with what we have.

That's the way to stagnate.

You know the business model, get players before they become stars. That means taking a punt on a few who may well fail. Cheap to buy, and we may turn a small profit.

Holtby could have been great, but only cost a couple of million, Paulinho was the standout player on the confederations cup, but this has been done to death...

The big risks are the players signed for or on big money. If they fail, they are impossible to shift.

im a dembele truther too, but we need something to break the mold. the only first team player we added as CB, we need a new option at CM, like maybe someone that can play the ball forward (coughdembelecough) or track runners (coughmasoncough)

Ok mate sorry for offering up an opinion i promise not to do it again.

Sorry - nothing personal. I just hate the 'buy all the players' mentality.

Bentaleb and Mason were fantastic last season in their first full years, and did enough to be backed like Rose and Kane were last season. Alli looks a fantastic addition and Stambouli looked perfectly competent during the ACN. If there's an exceptional CM prospect out there, lets get him. But not scraping the barrel for overpriced journeymen like McCarthy...

Wrong player for us, slows down play, like a fish out of water in Poch's high pressing game

True. That's if we play the 'high pressing game'. To be honest we didn't see a huge amount of it last season although I expect to see more of it this coming season.

He's a great player to bring off the bench mind, especially we leading a game to slow the pace down.

Let's not forget some of our best performances last season were with him in the team.

We have to be kind of realistic though, we need players that will improve us, they are very hard to get with no CL, no point buying players that are no better than we already have, we need upgrades not sideways steps

... The one worry is when we had CL we didnt strengthen. I hope that if it comes by again we will have the new stadium to help address this.

All our big money signings have worked out so well in the last XX years. Bent, Bentley through err... Robby and Lamela.

Spending Schneiderlin money on anyone other than the man himself is about as likely as snow in the oven.

Face it you chaps, there are no big signings coming.

I'm locking this so squillions of people can read (and probably ignore) Parky's post.

Most of you lot are so far up Levy's arse that what i'm about to say might actually ring a bell or two

1: The grass isn't always greener

2: Be careful what you wish for

*Walks away laughing like a hyena on acid
At first glance I thought I was for the ban stick! Then read it properly!

I'm guessing by pre-Thunderwank post, not a lot changed?

Blimey, I got home just in time, I'm sure I heard a storm brewing in the distance. Didn't see any lightning though, which was a bit strange?

I don't mind it being quiet on the itk front, at least we're not being bombarded with random, average players, leading to the same arguments. I love a bit of proper itk, don't get me wrong but the whole Evans thing....urgh, sent a shiver down my spine.
I don't want to sell squad fodder, just to replace them with squad fodder. Improve or use what we have.

We know it's possible - Everton and Southampton have proved this with JM and MS - we need to have faith in our new scouting setup

without trying to be too negative, look at what happened to Aston Villa with their crop of tallented youngsters' We need a Scott Parker type of player to sit in the middle and hold all of the young players in check, whilst giving security for the defence, its a fine balance but i think that Poch is heading in the right direction.
