and the itk saying Poch wants players with proven PL experianceN'Jie expected to sign a new deal at Lyon, we are being used again!
I think a deal structured between £15-20m for Berahino is acceptable in this market based on his nationality and age, and also the fact he shouldn't be on crazy wages.
So Everton buy him for £13-14m and sell him for £10-15m. When Martinez is telling everyone how important McCarthy is to his team and is not for sale.10-15 is more realistic!
Worth it in today's market. Be worth double that in 2 years with us! Get it donenot sure if this has been posted
ali z on berahino: Deffo a target but not an easy deal for various reasons, would be at least £20m.
This is what I dont fully understand. It seems we will have to pay around £20 mill for McCarthy, and MS was what? £25 mill? Surely getting the man Poch wanted would have been Worth those extra few mill?
I am sure others can elaborate but wasn't there a match last season where at half-time Poch had a go at Lennon for not doing what he had been told. To which Lennon got angry and defended his peformance only for Poch to bring out the Opta stats and prove him wrong.
Something like that....
I don't think McCarthy brings enough to warrant the chase. I'd rather stick with what we've got.
Im not sure about that we do have some potentially young great players but they havent done it at the top level yet like ali, pritchard etc.
We do need a slightly more experienced body in there just to keep things on an even keel.
Just like Kane last year....
Experience is fine, if we have allayed we can get that fits into the system we want to play and is better than what we have, if not then youth players are fine. These days with the amount of games, loans, tournaments and international games at lower ages, they have more experience than a player 10 or more years ago at the same age.
I really hope that we can continue to produce home grown talent so we can spend our money better on the continent, rather than paying the premium that is on English players.
Don't disagree at all, but does James McCarthy really tick that box? I'd argue that Bentaleb even in his youth has more experience than McCarthy. He's played at a World Cup and African Cup of Nations, and he's played in a cup final.Im not sure about that we do have some potentially young great players but they havent done it at the top level yet like ali, pritchard etc.

I'm not saying spend big on the continent. But £20m on the continent goes a lot further than £20m on a Brit in the PL.We don't spend big money on the continent though. I'd prefer us to spend big on proven premier league talent and small on European maybes.
