We could have easily had the likes of Payet, Cabaye, Clasie, Rondon, Wijnaldum to name a few by now. I don't think a great deal of SC would be complaining if we'd signed a couple of that lot.

But they would have been complaining about selling them to Sunderland in 12 months time for half of what we paid. More Stamboulis

We've got an excellent squad now. There's no point adding anything but absolute quality. Winks, Veljkovic and Oduwa etc. are perfectly capable of making up the numbers if that's all we want to do.

I'm going to the U21 game tomorrow - will keep my eyes peeled for any signings knocking about....but mainly I'm hoping to see Onomah/Winks/CCV etc playing!

I'm writing this thesis which I'll lock away and key given to a lawyer, that an hour before deadline is nigh, Levy will impose a
"Campbell F" on us and pull in lastminute.com one Austin C.

Yeah, the thing is we've been linked with more players than I can remember in any other window (with more itk than I can remember) and I'll buy that we've actually made genuine enquiries for most of 'em.

Either way I think we'll be ok. Really feel positive about this season and also think it's gonna be a cracking season all-round in the prem. Like "aguerrroooooooo!!!!" good. That season was nuts.

Berahino would lift my spirits. Don't really get the negativity he receives (apart from his rumoured attitude problems).

It definitely sounds like Pochettino knows exactly what we need. Not a massive fan of Alderweireld, but I like his familiarity with Verts. Trippier looks very good. Alli as well.

I just hope we can seal deals on players that will suit us, instead of just resorting to Victor Loses when everything else falls through.

Arguably your Stambouli's are just as likely to come from deadline day failings. With our strikers, if a couple of deals were to collapse last minute, we're forced into bringing in someone average because all we have is Kane.

excellent is definitely pushing it. it's a 7/10 squad at best

We've still got the first team players who played the most from November onwards to which we've added Trippier, Wimmer, Toby, Pritchard, Carroll and Alli with Walker coming back from injury.

And we've lost nobody who contributed much if anything to last season.

So however you rate the squad, we have a lot more depth to the squad than we finished the season - even though there are clear gaps in the squad such as an alternative striker to Kane..

I'm an N'jie man, personally; just my preference, but if we get both then sweet.

Toby has come in and I can guarantee you that he is now the best passer in the squad. The guy can put it on a dime - all ranges. He's calm, positionally good, a good reader of the game and experienced and knows vert's game inside out. Love this singing.

If the itk around is properly on it then I'm not concerned about potential signings not fitting. Think we've sourced well.

lmfao@ 'Victor Loses' btw.

Thanks for the spam rating @jimmyh - I was feeling hungry.

I wasn't mocking you - I was trying to light-heartedly express the fact that we're not allowed to badger the ITK on this site. It's in the various rules and regulations, and is there to avoid putting them off from posting due to being bombarded with questions.

The mantra is "if they have something to say, they'll say it".

That's what I'm calling my balls from now on. Genius.

when i start going negative then worry, until that point, chill we got this....:p

Please don't get negative pal - we'll need a major suicide watch campaign in place before you do.

Happy you're positive with 3 weeks to go to end of TW....but I think a forward coming in this week would settle people's nerves a bit ! Understand one or two others might be 'last minute dot com' as DL said

Guys, chill like is I am sure they know where we need to strengthen. We need a senior ball carrier general in the middle of the park and I am afraid bentaleb is not that yet. If I recall correctly he has misplaced passes both in preseason and first game that have cost us. This will not have gone unnoticed. Cheer up and look forward to the hole being filled especially in need of pace up top to get in behind.

I know nothing about N'jie other than the obligatory YouTube viewing. Looks fast, attacking, unselfish, and a bit one-footed. Also seems to have some weird shooting technique where he hits the ball very early...which is nice.

Yeah Alderweireld impressed me on Saturday. A defensive collection of Rose, Verts, Alderweireld, Walker / Davies, Wimmer, Dier, Trippier (and Fazio left over for changing light bulbs) looks very good to me.

I'm perhaps foolishly confident that right now we're just chipping away at deals, and if we can't get things sorted by deadline day we'll be willing to pay a bit extra to avoid relying on work experience kids to back up Kane.

Glad JJ is still positive.

I'm still confident of us nailing our targets too, although somehow due to prior experience and the way things are going am also not confident of us actually completing the deals, at the same time.

Massive benteke deja vu with Berahino for example.

That said I don't think we are too short pre deadline, unless something happens to Harry. Mason looked bang on it when he came on Saturday and Alli is ready to step up. Ideally we get Berahino/N'Jie in soon but no need for panic stations just yet IMHO.

Poch on strikers (Friday) :

"We have our target, I think in the next few days maybe something [will] happen," Pochettino said in his pre-match press conference on Friday.

"Maybe Liverpool tried to find their Harry Kane but we have Harry Kane," he said. "The people is very happy that our striker is Harry Kane. If you want to find players to compete with or improve Harry Kane it's not easy.

"My vision is [it's] better to sign a player from England, but it's true that the market in England is crazy, it's not easy. It's better to bring some players from England but it's not easy, maybe you need to bring some players from Europe."

Even if the search for a new striker drags on, Pochettino insists he already has enough players able to play up front for him not to worry.

"No worries about that and the people won't worry about the team because we have a lot of good players that can play like a striker," he added.

"We need to be [more] solid than last season because we scored a lot of goals but the problem was we conceded a lot of goals. If we are more solid maybe we can reduce the gap with the top four." (note - explainswhy we've signed defenders)
