Jasper's last post clarified things a bit more. He's just frustrated about the situation, and thinks it's ridiculous that we're one training ground injury to Kane away from being at a distinct disadvantage against Stoke:

"A club with the resources we have should NOT be in this position!"

Also said the lack of signings by now makes him question our ambition.

Just to reiterate - he's been very clear that this is entirely his opinion rather than being based on any info he's privy to. Echoes a lot of the general frustration on here as well.

I wouldn't read much into his "by Tuesday" comment. Even if we announced Berahino tomorrow I couldn't see him being in the squad against Stoke.

We might get both ....
Hmmm my wife says I may get to play with both her boobies but I end up masterbating in the shower.
That's probably what Daniel is doing right now masterbating watching our champions league run. Whilst multitasking playing football manager practising signing players on transfer deadline day...

It really is, mate. We'll be ok. There's enough decent competition now to push what we've got forward. Pritch, Onomah, Winks, Carroll will all contribute and contribute more and more as we go on imo. Wimmer, Toby, Alli and Trippier have strengthened us.

Toby and Dier would be ok options for CM next to whoever (Dier would likely grow into it more)

Chadli would surprise people if he had to deputise for an injured Kane - please god don't that happen though - and play point.

We would be ok.

The attitude and hunger of the young guns (and trippier, who I'm loving) would push the whole project forward imo.

I really think there is a massive overreaction going on right now.

@iluvsteffenfreund I'd ask you why you disagree but I know you'll just give me your Pat Butcher routine.

We'll have a good team out against stoke and can stick decent teams out until the end of the window.

People are getting themselves in a bit of a tizz aren't they....

But what happens if no deals could be done that quickly? Is that so unfeasible?

I just don't get how people think we have any power when buying a player.
We could have easily had the likes of Payet, Cabaye, Clasie, Rondon, Wijnaldum to name a few by now. I don't think a great deal of SC would be complaining if we'd signed a couple of that lot.

There's good players that we don't have to wait for.

Even if we believe the somewhat unproven assumption that players signed late are always better, they are still not integrated for pre-season. Arguably a player who is 2/3 names down the list but has had a whole pre-season to bed in is no worse than a better quality signing thrown in at the deep end on September 1st, and that's not taking into account the risks of failing to pull off deadline day deals. The argument also gets weaker when you note that there are 4 competitive games before the window closes and we're likely to have 1 striker for most of them.

This place is mad. It looks like it is negatives vs positives. The ITKs have all been positive and surely that's what we have to go on at the moment.

Obviously we would want all the transfers done by now but we have to see where we are in the food chain and the level of players we want. We could have got all our players by now by settling on slightly inferior players but instead we are looking at players that either they or their clubs have a hope that a club higher up in the food chain will bite. If we get these I will be happy that we were patient and got them opposed to inferior players a few games earlier. If we don't get them then we could start discussing if this has been a good or bad transfer window.

In a way I think we were spoilt by having Modric, Bale, VDV and an inform Lennon at the same time. Out of those only VDV was bought as a finished product and that was just being at the right place at the right time. The rest were bought as raw talent that we got lucky with. Unfortunately all that talent got mismanaged and we couldn't build on it. If you look at the trajectory of the team / squad without that blip it has mostly been positive. I believe we are trying to get back to that but we have to do it the long way round like we did before.

You seriously underestimate the raw power of the SC moaner.

You gotta remember, though, that poch knows what specific player type he wants for the squad as he's got the big picture according to his vision, along with the scouting team. So we've always got to consider that as well in our evaluation of who we get, or don't get, in.

It is a bit of a risky game we're playing. I can envision Piltdown Adam crocking Kane after 5 minutes, then suddenly we're in a woeful negotiation position when it comes to bringing in other strikers. One incident is all it takes to send us on our way sans paddles down shit creek.

As I said before, I'm confident that we'll bring in some good forwards eventually. Not so confident about a DM, but I'm happy to see how that pans out before raging against the world.

Seriously, if Kane sees Gothmog coming after him he should just fuck the ball off to the nearest spurs shirt and leg it..

Gothmog :D

Anyway, JJ seems positive which is reassuring. Never been shy of saying "nothing's happening" when that's been the case, so at least we know the club is still cracking away on incomings.

I dunno about anyone else, but reading that and looking at your avatar is really doing it for me.

when i start going negative then worry, until that point, chill we got this....:p

Please avert your eyes whenever you see a post by @mikeeegreen on here. A well-meaning guy who is just frustrated by a few things, but if you let him in you'll be shouting "DOOM...DOOM I TELLS YA" before the week's out.

Yeah, the thing is we've been linked with more players than I can remember in any other window (with more itk than I can remember) and I'll buy that we've actually made genuine enquiries for most of 'em.

Either way I think we'll be ok. Really feel positive about this season and also think it's gonna be a cracking season all-round in the prem. Like "aguerrroooooooo!!!!" good. That season was nuts.
