Agreed, but we're not asking for 100's of millions, maybe just 50m? Maybe just one window where we don't have to have a net in transfers

What is this obsession with net spend. It like gamers and there obsessions with pixels and frame rates.

We spent 100 Million on players a couple of seasons ago. Splashing money around doesn't automatically mean success. We brought decent players , that at the time we were all extremely excited to have brought, that summer ITK thread was glorious. But..yeah it didn't work out.

Threads like these kind of sums up , how out of touch football these days is with reality. You just can't go round spending money that you don't have.

That's a bit dramatic. Who said anything about no return? Won't they get the same enjoyment from seeing the team do well?

I think my post was clearly talking about financial return. If you think investors are investing in Spurs in order to see a team to do you are living in a fantasy world.

I was referring to financial return in my post. I'm sorry if I didn't make that clear.

We, the fans, put money into the club because it makes us feel good. We get no financial comeback.

Shouldn't we expect the Owner to put in a little money for the same reasons?

How much is a little money? The hundreds of £millions he's spent buying us already?
Why shouldn't he just buy a season ticket?

No, we are essentially customers. The money I put into the club hopefully brings me entertainment and, along with the other fans collectively, a chance to give the club the money to succeed or improve.

Investors put money into the club hoping for a financial return.

They could take a big financial risk and all put in money to improve the club hugely but they would only do so only if they will get a financial return if the success happens.

I like your thinking but it still isn't reality.

We put money into the club without any financial return. For season ticket holders this can be a considerable portion of their yearly income. The only comeback we get is the enjoyment of watching the team do well.

Shouldn't we expect an owner to do the same?

Dont worry, Im sure he has a season ticket too.

We're not his train-set and he doesn't want to make us pretty by spending £50m on us. He wants to make money from selling us one day for more money than he put into us. Fortunately the best way for him to do this is by keeping us successful, doing all the infrastructure stuff he's doing, and showing to our future purchaser that achieving CL etc is not a pipe dream.

Only problem is that the playboy train-set types want the credit, it's no fun buying a train-set that's already largely built! And on the other hand the investor wants to see room to improve. Only significant additional financial improvement to be made is if we qualify for CL, winning it, or winning the league adds a bit more, but not massive amounts more. Other than that then it's a punt on the growing worldwide appeal of the league as a whole, and the degree to which we as a club have exploited that to date and the head-room for exploiting it further.

We have a net due to the astonishing return we've made on player investments, not because we don't spend 100s of millions on players in the first place.

It's funny that a fan earning 20k would put about 10% of their yearly salary into a club while a Billionaire owner won't put in a penny of his.

You are a fan.

They are investors.

If you don't get that difference then I suspect this conversation is pointless.

Don't agree with this.

For one we don't have to spend a penny if we don't want too, we decide to go to games or buy merchandise. Enic would have paid to buy the club, so this "won't put in a penny" to me is a lot of rubbish, they have invested in other areas other club which will grow the club. It's is a business for them.
