Owners need to protect the value of the investments that make them rich.

If Spurs' success (such a it is) were dependent on hand-outs from the owner, what do you think that would do to the value of the club?

Unless you are beyond financial sense like Anramovich (money laundering) and the Sheiks ( Geo-political) gifting money to s club makes no sense.

Yep Joe's money is tied up in the tavistok group. It's not like he has a £billion in the bank.

.......... if its taken as an equity stake, he most certainly has not 'given' the club £50m

Did we get £50m that we otherwise would not have had? Did this money come from jor lewis? Just because he has transfered this money to shares doesn't mesn he hasn't invested £50m of his own money.

If Levy and ENIC thought that pumping £50m would help increase the value of the club then I'm sure they'd do it.

But that's the only reason. Not for the love of the club or for the joy of watching great football.

They are in it to make money and the hope is just that in doing that they also make the club better (which they have). Anyone hoping for any more is, albeit understandably, not on the same wavelength as our owners at all.

Plus given our transfer activitie of the last few years, why would you give us 50 million to be wasted. If we show we can buy very good players with the money at the moment and increases our value, we may well get a bit more in the future

ENIC are not sole owners of the club. If they 'give' money to the club, they are gifting money to the other shareholders. Which is why they have done so previously as share issues and debt/equity exchanges. They have done this numerous times.

It's not even true. Joe Lewis owns ENIC, ENIC own Spurs. That does not mean that Joe Lewis personally owns Spurs in the same way that the Glazers, Abramovich, John Henry, et al own the other clubs. It's completely different, and massively misleading.

Funds are limited so we will invest those funds in areas where we will get the best long term value for the club. Which is training ground, academy and new stadium.
We are seeing the fruits already for the academy and training ground. How much has kane, rose, townsend, bentaleb, caulker, livermore, pritchard saved us in the last couple of years?
Some fans seem to think that the only way to success is by splashing bigger and bigger amounts on new signings. There are other ways that are more sustainable in the long term.

Big cash will always beat building home grown players. Yes its nice to get a few in your team and we should in years to come, but we will never beat city and Chelsea to the title while they spend the kind of money they do

Hence we build a new stadium which will give us roughly an extra £50m a year to play with.

He's getting on a bit is old Joe, I wonder if this Christmas he'll receive a visit from Jacob Marley and deliver us the biggest turkey in the window the following morning. I can just picture him dancing through the streets with Tiny Tim.
