Well if I knew I wouldn't have put if

Of course but bringing in an entire new team of highly thought of scouts and analysts has come at great expense and taken a very long time to assemble. This has been done so that we don't have all our eggs in one basket and so we have back up potions and even back ups to those back ups. The sole role of these people is to find players that are fit for purpose. It is then a case of looking at just which ones tick most boxes and doing the best we can to get them in, and if not look at the others we have researched and move on only when the time is right.

If you want a player you need to make it worth the selling club's while. They're not just going to give away their prized asset for less than market value. If you're not prepared to do so, move on and stop wasting everyone's time.

To who? This attitude is so annoying. I get you're frustrated, but we pay what we value the player at. If that's less than the Seller wants but all parties believe we can EVENTUALLY get there then maybe it's worth waiting for. The player may benefit us for years to come. Why can't you see that? Have a slightly more long-term based look at it and think, on balance is it better to get the player after a tricky negotiation and have him for however many years or is it better to get another also-ran in that barely improves us and we sell next year at a loss.
@Stoof it may eventually pay off but it's a risk. As @thebenjamin says if we definitely / desperately want the player, why not pay what is asked? As long as its not a silly variance between the seller's and buyer's assessment I dont see a problem with this.

We made over 600m last year chuck in player sales another £100m plus a higher TV revenue this year. We have one of the richest chairmen in world football a new stadium nearly all funded with naming rights due to come....no money that rubbish.
Where has it all gone!

 (just kidding)

I don't know if you have a job, or a relationship, but I don't look at my bank balance at the end of the month and wonder where it has all gone and why I can't afford to spend every penny I've "earnt" on luxuries.

I'd suggest reading up on what Gross and Net are, along with Turnover and Profit. We certainly don't have Levy sat around like Scrooge McDuck, diving in and out of a vault in Hotspur Way full of notes and coins.

If you are genuinely interested in the answer, the information you require is here:

Now, is it possible to get back to reality, and away from "why don't transfers work like FIFA 15?" (y)

And on to the ITK you mean? Well, responding like you have makes that difficult. One post begets another and so on…...

We do the strung out transfer because you hear about it early. I can assure you with considered and researched buys(not ones made in desperation) it is the same at every club, even the rich ones.

Don't matter how many times you say it ,some people still won't get it . The only way around it would be to close the window before the season starts.

The asking price changes though. West Brom have had a contract on the table for Berahino for ages and are open to negotiate that with him. The fact he has refused means this time next year he will be going into his final year, and what ever bargaining power they have to sell will be halved. Some clubs can afford that to happen West Brom though are not one of them. Add to that the negative affect of keeping a player around that doesn't want to be there, and also the possibility of ending up paying a player the manger won't play(if he acts up). So the price at the start of the window when you have a player with a good season under his belt, is behaving himself, and may have multiple interested parties, will be different to one at the end of the window when you are left with only option of shifting him. There are deals where you are right, it's too difficult so move on quickly. There are others though that can alter dramatically over the space of only a few weeks.
I'd like to think it's similar for outgoings too. The closer the window approaches, the better the Aston Villa move may appear to Adebayor. I have to think he's just waiting out for other options, but with none likely to come, will end up there in the end.

Worrying info from the goat. Seems awfully late to be exploring new options to me. Are we to assume that fee is still an issue re berahino?

I like this idea. We have a secret team of highly qualified alchemists brewing a concoction of magical potions for a variety of purposes - fitness potions, confidence potions, potions we slip into opposing chairmans latte's so they do things like buy Malbranque, Tainio and Chimbonda for 22m odd.

Even better is we have back up potions and back up potions to our back up potions for all kind of eventualities. Shame the stabilise Ade one didn't work.

Credit must go to Levy for assembling the finest team of alchemists in the country.

That may be correct (Trix) but when we are already two strikers light, it is suicidal to be using that as a strategy. Waiting for the 'right moment' we do not have that luxury. Does not make any sense to me at all. Utter madness sorry to say.

Apologies if this has already been posted but if you are wondering why Jasper hasn't posted for some time on SO then here is it. A case in point as to why abuse of any kind should not be tolerated. I think this marries up with what @Spurger King was saying the other day...

Jasper on SO said:
I have deliberately taken time to keep quiet to gather my thoughts, and here they are. Let me hasten to add that if you have grammar intolerance please stop reading now, as I frankly don't give a damn of how my words are put together, as long as I believe my point has got across. If this sentence is one of a delinquently challenged then so be it.

I have gone through a lot of personal trauma that has resulted in the lost of a couple of my siblings in the past couple years, along with my wife who was diagnosed with cancer and thank fully in remission. She is my all in all and best friend.

I have been supporting THFC since early 1960's. Privileged to be involved in the game through my business, though not on a daily basis. I was also a scout for the club few years back, and will not disclose more than that. I have scouted and recommended players to clubs, some offered contracts and made a name for themselves in the game. My family are to a point involved at many levels, along with close connections at the club.

I can attest to having strong close relationships within the club, and have shared that with some, and have pictures and more to prove it. At almost anytime I have free executive access to most games which I do not always take up. I have been in meetings with players, agents etc, and cannot divulge a lot for those reasons.

When I share I learnt few years back to stop saying 'done deal' etc, as it comes back to haunt you. I therefore use vague words or hints. I have been warned to be very careful what I share for a lot of reasons. One thing I have never done is lied, embellished or similar. I have shared honestly and with a clear conscience.

I was the first one from memory to expose the signing of Dos Santos, with blow by blow. First one to share the a runtime and place of David Bentley's signing. First one to share Steffen Freund coming back in coaching role. First one to share about USA involvement etc with the stadium. First one to hint about the roof a give away.

First one to put nads on the line that Hugo Lloris would give it one more year, when the populace was he was going. I was in the company of certain staff members who told me DM was sorted, and I shared that and got pillared. I could continue, but believe you get my points.

I have always shared in honesty. I will take time to reflect if I will continue to do so, and cannot promise I will continue to contribute, as every word is dissected, to the point if I share an opinion out of frustration that is also ridiculed by some.

I am not in a good place as I try to preserve my business and also a caution to attend court for personal matters. Factor that in with my family problems and losses, which is a very hard time for me. If you believe I am a attention seeking, I honestly do not give. Flying f**k what you think, as I cannot be bothered to listen or respond to your constant p**s take at my expense.

I do not swear, but this has pushed me to an area of hurt, especially under my personal circumstances. You do not know what people are going through, and to some a forum like this allows them to escape for a while. I use to enjoy those moments, but no more. Very sad to what is happening to this forum. I do not belong to another, and do not use twitter.

Please take note that I will not be saying anything more, or responding on this thread. I have said what I wanted and felt needed to say to vindicate myself. These are very hard times for me and I WILL get through.

PS: I felt the need to address this in thread of its own, and apologise if you think my motives are different. AG thank for your kind words 'marmite'. I honestly appreciated your words as I do try to accept the right criticism, accepting my communication skills needs work.

Is Ade's Mum part of our scouting network then?
