Well this was going to be my next question. What if we make headway with Bender ( who will no doubt cost more and club don't want to sell ) ? Or another CM that has been a target ? Do we pull the trigger on them if they are a definite that can come in earlier ? To be honest, the reason he fits so well is the price, the club wanting to sell and his quality. I can't see many other options out there unless there's a CM we've been working on in the background that has yet to come to light.

Unfortunately, to me, this may boil down to Illarramendi or no one in at CM. Perhaps we can work on convincing him before things get right down to the nitty gritty
We might or might not sign him (Illarremendi) but putting two and two together (and coming up with five?), it might possibly explain why there's been strong confidence in two or three different midfield targets from the ITK's without anything happening. It's could be possible that we're putting deals in place should whatever deadline Levy thinks suitable arrive without him agreeing to come.

That's whatever deadline the club have decided on, not each individual poster. That's if i'm even close on this. I just think its a theory worth considering.

Bloody risky, if you ask me, leaving ourselves on the hook with this guy until deadline day, at which point, if he says 'no thanks, I'll stay put or go elsewhere' nobody else will be willing to sell to us as there won't be time to secure replacements. He's a great player, no doubt, but it's sort of a shit-or-bust strategy, isn't it? And we're not exactly overflowing with quality and experience in central midfield without him.

Just to add some subjectivity (prob already been posted) on Illaramendi:

Hertyid - I would be very surprised if he came to Spurs.

Sounds like onion. Or onion salt, which he could use to make that beanie more palatable.

Yes but we'll have some some other options on ice in case it doesn't happen...a few who would jump at the chance to join us on deadline day - which probably means they'll be pretty shit.

Let's face it, there's only one ITK that has the history and authority to make the call on this...

Why when I think about us possibly signing Illarremendi, the Willian fiasco pops into my head? :(

I think most people would agree this is likely the case, but the worry is that we might be willing to wait longer on Illaramendi, due to him being Poch's preference(according to trix). Waiting too long could then potentially lead to us losing our chance with other players who might be of similar quality, like a Bender or Kramer, and might leave us without a DM. Certainly a valid concern, IMO. And it wouldnt be the first time we end the summer short at a position of need.

Well………In the Read only, Update 176…a cryptic…...

A genuine = Real = Madrid = Illarremendi

And you lot thought it was finally the big cabbage reveal. loooooooooooool

Have to say I thought this was Bender... Would explain why A&C was clamping down on the player thread with the find a genuine link first!

Illaremendi and Berahino in, would set us up nicely. So on that basis I'm choosing to believe the ITK of Trix and Ghostofarmo with unrelenting faith :)

Eh? What did we get from FTL that I missed? I am completely lost here. Nothing in the RO...

I also assume Illaramendi was the DM that Grey Fox posted about on Saturday...

A poster who has no ITK history but has been posting for 7 years had some very specific info along the lines of 5-year deal for Illara agreed at £62,450 per week or something like that (from memory)

Sounds plausable. I can just see Levy negotiating over that 50 quid. :p

He cost madrid over 30m euros. I'd have thought his wages would be higher. Also aren't liverpool meant to be trying to get him?

Let me be the first to say that all I know about him is Madrid bought him and he's barely played. Never seen him play, not even for one minute.....

.....so suffice to say on that basis, get in! would be the signing of the century!

In all seriousness, Madrid don't tend to buy shit players. What sort of CM is he?
