I'd guess the starting lineup will be (4-2-3-1):

GK - Lloris (c)
LB - Rose
CB - Vertonghen
CB - Alderweireld
RB - Walker
CM - Mason
CM - Bentaleb
AM - Chadli
AM - Eriksen
AM - Lamela
SK - Kane

I think I'd like Alli to start.

Lloris

Walker Toby Vertonghen Rose

Alli Bentaleb

Chadli Dembele Eriksen

Kane

Don't think Njie will start, but he might make an appearance from the bench.

Aside from a bullshit 20 minutes, our defence has looked a lot more solid than last season, so I would only change Davies to Rose for attacking threat and width.

The next four games are A-H-A-H to Leicester, Everton, Sunderland and Palace. You'd like to think we can pick up a couple of wins from this quartet at a minimum, so that our first 6 games produced something like 8 points or more. To that end, we really need players with some attacking drive in the side and to shake off lethargic looking performances. I think Alli and Rose should start a couple of games to add a bit of bite and urgency. And more support for Kane. Ideally, N'jie will offer something from the bench as we integrate him into the side, but our ability to bring on a game-changer if needed seems pretty lacking at the moment.

Lloris; Walker, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Rose; Dembele, Mason; Chadli, Alli, Eriksen; Kane.
Bench: Vorm, Dier, Trippier, Davies, Bentaleb, Townsend, N'jie

Need to get the fullbacks working those flanks - Walker looks fit, but we're still conceding key opposition play on our right and he's producing NOTHING going forward. Davies is a good honest pro, but he's another notorious back-passer.

If Njie hasn't got his paperwork sorted in time then Poch really needs to put Harrison on the bench, not four fucking central midfielders again the tit.

Andros is out for Saturday after suffering an ankle injury. If N'Jie doesnt have his visa yet, we'll be without pace on the bench once again.

You'd drop Mason (MOM v Stoke) for Bentaleb who has been awful through pre season, v Man Utd and when he came on v Stoke?

Lloris
Walker Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
Dier Mason
Chadli Dembele Eriksen
Kane

Subs: Vorm, Trippier, Wimmer, Bentaleb, Alli, Carroll, Pritchard

Fuck it - I hate the 4-2-3-1, especially with our players right now. Even though I prefer 4-3-3, the best formation for us right now based on form would be:

Lloris
Walker Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose
Dier
Dembele Mason
Eriksen
Kane Chadli
No matter how much I think Trippier would help us offensively, Walker is playing very well defensively right now. I don't think Poch can drop him. Walker though has to make width on the right while Dier/ Alderweireld stay back to cover his flank. Dembele can then stay more in midfield where he is better and Mason and Erisken can get forward to help create and score with Kane and Chadli.

Also, it is understated how much Danny Rose coming forward allows Chadli to really punish the opposition.

Regardless of form, he offers a bit more solidity. Fair enough Mason is playing well but you have to set up according to who you are playing as well.

Plus the only way Bentaleb is going to start playing well is by playing himself into form.

I don't think on current form he offers any solidity at all - in fact, quite the opposite. I also don't see why he should be offered the opportunity to play himself into form when other players wouldn't. He needs to take opportunities when he's on the pitch and he hasn't done that in recent games. He needs to earn his chance, not be pandered to. Mason, in contrast has played well and worked hard and certainly deserves to keep his place IMO.

We'll agree to disagree then. I think Bentaleb should play. You don't. Fair enough. He was one of our best players last season, it's early in the season, he could click into gear in any game.

Winner, spot on. Bentaleb "playing him self into form" will see us losing more games, no doubt about it.

I'd like (if fit):

Lloris

Trippier Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose

Mason Veljkovic Bentaleb

Dembele Kane Pritchard

But adhering to Poch's 4231:

Lloris

Trippier Alderweireld Vertonghen Rose

Mason Bentaleb

Dembele Pritchard Eriksen

Kane

I'd love to see this

Lloris

Trippier Toby Verts Rose

Dembele Dier Mason

Pritchard Kane Chadli

Subs : Vorm, Wimmer, Davies, Alli, Bentaleb, Lamela, Eriksen, N'jie

But that's pie in the sky, in the 4-2-3-1 we all know and love, play Dembele in behind Kane and have Pritchard from the right and Chaldi from the left. But I'd like to see these 3 being fluid and swapping positions and roles throughout
